John Mayberry Jr is in camp with the Phillies.

"He has talent," said Phillies manager Charlie Manuel, who recognizes and prizes that quality in a hitter. "He's a real interesting guy. I'm looking forward to seeing him play."

Pride of Rockhurst HS

Phillies seem a bit lefty heavy in their bench, Mayberry has a chance to make it as a 4th OF.

Not as patient a hitter as his dad, clearly.

BP says he’s “absolute murder on lefties”, which as you say has got to be attractive to the Phillies.

In better shape than his father at least:

I’m sure he would love to have his father’s career.

i took hitting lessons when i was 13-14 and still trying to hit curveballs, even though i have terrible vision, from Mayberry Sr. He taught me this swing, which I thought at the time seemed counter to everything I had ever heard elsewhere. Throwing the hands out over the plate and what not…same swing that Jr. was using…6 or so years later, I read an article after jr was drafted by the Rangers about them having to completely rebuild his swing….thanks for nothing John Mayberry…I will continue to blame you for my failure as a hitter…

I remember during that draft

I think it was the 2006 draft, I was looking at Mayberry Jr. I wanted him bad.
Guess I was wrong

My lazy ass decided to check what year it was

It was the 2005 draft…
That’s when we got Gordon. At the time that was the pick to go.

That was a pretty good draft by the way, alot of guys are already in the majors and some are ready to make an impact.
