Buster Olney blogs about the Royals again.

The Royals have improved in many places, including their collective confidence.

by 2X2L on Mar 1, 2009 12:25 PM EST reply actions

jeez

i don’t read buster olney very often, but i have in the past couple days. he seems to make too many errors. or at least it reads in a way different from the facts.

we didn’t invest $14M in farnsworth. we invested $9M with the option of a third year at $5M, which i’d doubt we’d pick up. yesterday he got information wrong about what sort of draft picks we’d give up.

BP 2009 on 27-year-old RHP Moseley:

A highly regarded prospect when he was dealt to the Angels by the Reds for Ramon Ortiz, Mosely has a four-pitch mix centered on a cutter and a curve, but he doesn’t have enough finesse to make it work at the big-league level.

by 2X2L on Mar 1, 2009 1:51 PM EST reply actions

BP 2007 on Moseley:

When you were a freshman in college, did you have a classmate who, doomed by genetics, lost all of his hair before the year was out? Think about him—already carrying the mark of an older man by his nineteenth birthday. Moseley’s lot is much like that of someone with a prematurely exposed pate: Lacking any particularly reliable out-pitch, Moseley’s destiny is to be a Quadruple-A hurler, casting about for emergency starts and the off chance that some really bad ballclub will somehow back into having him on their roster. It’s the sort of thing that ought to encourage a guy to look up Mike Scott and ask for a tip or two on how to conjure up an unhittable forkball.

Pre-game warm-up: pare that down to 50 words or fewer, making it both more informative and funnier.
