Rany: with Cruz, the Royals now have a deep and formidable bullpen
"Maybe one of the best in baseball," Says Rany Jazayerli.
Rany loves Cruz's K's. He loves that Farnsworth moves down to a lower leverage role. He loves Cruz's small price tag. He says the cost of giving up a second round pick is there, but thinks the Royals will just spend that signing bonus money in Latin America instead.

Both KC teams give up a second rounder today
I’d say the Chiefs got the better deal.

AGREED
Although the Chiefs deal is ridiculously good. Can’t believe a second rounder was the best that NE could get
Waiting for April.
It all depends on how you see Cassel and Vrabel
Is Vrabel better than an ok LB who is aging and on the downside of his career? Is Cassel better than a backup QB? I don’t really have answers to these questions.

you can't put a price tag of Vrabel's grit
and by “grit” I mean “dirty play:”

Don't Forget His
TD’s!
I used to be an A's fan until they left town and got good.

I think
it’s a good trade. The Pats were just needing to dump payroll soon so that they can get their offseason moves going. Vrabel is older and likely they would have gotten rid of him anyway but he will be effective for the Chiefs I think.

A second rounder...
was NOT the best they could get.

Yea
But there has been speculatio that they WANTED a 2nd over a 1st becuase of the cost associated with signing a 1st round pick…
I didn’t think that Cassell was a guy to buil dhte franchise around. That being said, I’m more than willing to admit I could be, and probably am wrong, given that the other Patriots employee that left NE, Josh McDaniels, the HC of Denver, also wanted to trade for him.
And I agree w/ Rany
BOOM! ROASTED!
BB did Pioli a solid
which is kind of surprising. He should’ve waited for the Bucs-Broncos deal. This way though BB wins, he gives his friend a deal and he gets to deal McDaniel a headache with Cutler thinking he was on the trading block.
I don't know how to put this but I'm kind of a big deal.
who did?
Seriously, I can’t think of anyone on this board who said that the Cruz signing was bad

If you mean Cassel
I was mostly against it when everyone was speculating we’d use our #1 pick as trade. Although, I guess I shouldn’t have since it still fits the logic I’m using now other than being more expensive. I still have doubts about him, but I didn’t want them to use #1 pick on any of the college qbs nor on him. But, he is somewhat proven and at least as good as any of our current options. So, the risk is much lower than a draftee. But, for a 2, we get him and a LB. Fills 2 needs. I like it now. And it leaves our 1 for another need.
