Royals may not have a starting second baseman this year.
Acccording to Kegal Callaspo, Teahen, and Bloomquist could platoon all season. Yes, a three way platoon at second base, the new market inefficiency!

I just can't see this teahen experiment working out
MLB teams are too risk averse to try something like this… he needs to start playing 2b everyday

no he doesn't
he has absolutely no range. his piss poor defense would FAR outway any offensive contributions he might make.

so you'd rather him not play 2b
then do so in the regular season?

?
i thought you were talking about during the regular season.
i might play him there now just to see if he could do it kinda OK, but he probably can’t.

Why not just
Have one of those stunt games where Teahen plays an inning at each position, and invite all of the other GMs to decide which version they’re most interested in?

This makes sense
This lets you use your hands guy on 3rd and long, and then your bruiser in short yardage and goal-line situations.

So how does this platoon work?
Teahen plays against RHPs, Bloomquist vs. LHPs, and Callaspo vs. switch-pitchers?
How about this: just start Callaspo, and have Teahen and Guillen platoon in RF?

mmm, how the platoon would work.
Teahen is the starting at 2b unless, he is not subing in the outfield or third or first or resting.
Callaspo vs righties unless Teahen is starting there.
Bloomquist vs lefties assuming he is not subing at short.
That or a dart board?

Given the reality that the Spork is not an upgrade...
I really don’t know why the Royals brass is so averse to giving Callaspo the chance to prove that he isn’t an everyday second baseman.
