I'm surprised you haven't moved Taylor out of the top 20
…given his issues. And, given age/level/tools/performance, I don’t know that Bianchi deserves the top 15. I’d move Cegarra and Nicoll up and Taylor and Bianchi down.

i made this list last october
no changes have been made since then.
i would definitely move Taylor down. Nicoll would be higher if I knew he was definitely going to be a starter, but i haven’t heard anything. Bianchi might be a tad high but I love his 5-tool potential at SS so I am fine with him there. Cegarra is fine where he is for me. his upside is pretty limited.
only guy i might not really like at the spot he is — Wood. three above average pitches, big frame, workhorse type #2/#3 starter. i would move him higher if I redid this list.

Blake Wood
I really like him too. I’ve read some analysts knock him for not doing well in his first taste of AA ball in 2008, and on first glance he didn’t perform too well with a 5.30 ERA. But the more meaningful stats were quite good. A little under 8 K/9, a little more than 3 BB/9 and few HR’s for a FIP of 3.85, after a 2.57 FIP at Wilmington to start the year. At 23, I think he might be ready for AAA by midseason, if not sooner.

yup
i bet he and Cortes are on the similar…“show you can handle AA and we’ll bump you up” plan. DM mentioned Wood as a sleeper for some starts later in the season in an interview a while back.
if he can become a little more consistent with his off speed pitches i wouldn’t be surprised at all.

i like bianchi in the top 15
hopefully he can cut down on his strkeouts, maybe walk a little more, but that is really the only complaint. he’s going to be moved to shortstop and when he hits the ball, he hits it hard. you should also take into consideration his stats were in burlington last year.
the only player i’d move past taylor as a result of the drug test is lough. maybe perez. it’s upsetting but he could be sent to winter ball to make up for lost time. i don’t look it as that big of a deal. it’s better than him getting injured.

it'd be less of a big deal if it wasn't his second time getting in trouble for it...

i'm aware that it doesn't look good
being his second time getting in trouble (did everyone just assume what the organizations suspension was for?) but a lot of fans are acting like he’s finished. if he’s just smoking pot, it shouldn’t be that big of a deal, it’s replaceable. he just turned 21 and now can get drunk in the clubs like a professional athlete.

i agree he is not done
but makeup is important for a prospect (unless your just so f’ing talented it doesn’t matter, ala J. Hamilton). if he’s not showing that he cares or won’t do the things he needs to do (meaning, not sucking the bong) to become a MLB player, it isn’t good for his prospects.

It's really cool to have familiar names that just missed the cut

Lubanski isn't even
an honorable mention?
And no Rowdy Hardy? Come on, he needs to be somewhere on the list just for the fun of it.

Lubanski isn't top 25
Probably somewhere in the 30-40 range. I wouldn’t really call him a genuine “prospect” anymore.

i admittedly forgot about him.

I don't think I need to mention the one unforgivable omission

hey, you didn't change your signature that long ago
I just thought this was a serious prospect list, not something you just tossed off for kicks.
Oh well. If I had a blogroll (which I don’t) you’d totally be off it for like 2 days.

Great stuff stix
the more I read about Herrera the more I like.
I don't know how to put this but I'm kind of a big deal.

You should have had the entire rotation from Burlington last season.

i just about did!
the only significant guy i am missing is Eduardo Paulino, but he missed most of the second half with an injury.
he was putting up excellent numbers before that.
