Montgomery and Herrera

should give Burlington another great rotation. Hopefully Melville can make an appearance late in the season.

I don't know how to put this but I'm kind of a big deal.

What are the plans with Melville?

Is he going to extended spring?

And do we know who else will be part of the rotation in Burlington?

Everyone's recruits look better than ours.

I haven't heard yet

but I’m sure that is what he will do. I would expect a similar path as Duffy for Montgomery. Probably Herrera, Flanagan and a Chukar or two to start the season in Burlington with a rook or two after extended st.

candidates

Kelvin Herrera (basically a lock)
John Flanagan (same)
Sam Runion (probably give him another shot)
Mike Montgomery
Michael Lehmann
Brent Fisher (Wilmington maybe?)
Giancarlos De La Cruz (excellent peripheral stats in ’08 despite 5+ ERA)
Bryan Casey (more likely a bullpen guy)
Ivor Hodgson (sleeper, started pitching full time last year)
Tim Melville (if he keeps impressing in ST)
Keaton Hayenga (probably later in teh year)

i’m probably forgetting one or two. should find out within the next week.

there’s a good blog post on Melville on BA right now. free to read.

I think I'd put Runion back in extended spring....

Then move him after a month or so…

probably depends on the curveball

i still think they’ll assign him there right out of the gate. he was a high draft pick and should now have the stamina to handle a full season assignment.
