Bill Simmons and Matthew Berry Spend a Good Deal of Time Adoring the Royals
Yesterday I posted a FanPost detailing Bill Simmons' podcast love for the Royals.
Following up on his thought today in his podcast with The Talented Mr. Roto, Matthew Berry, both Simmons and Berry hoist a great deal of respect towards our squad. Are we now overrated????

Does anybody know any good podcast sites? I know of ESPN. It could be as good as it gets. I work a lot of hours this time of year, and unfortunately I do not get AM stations in my building. I have to download them the night before. I am looking for KC sports, or MLB, NFL, or NBA in general. Help me if you can.

the wierdo in me says pay for the script and...
listen to Coast To Coast AM every night…freak out and think about the wonders of the world…for 4 hours (actually 38-41 minutes an hour minus the commercials) its well worth the 10 or 15 bux a month or whatever it is and you get 3 computers to log on with, so basically u can 5 bux a month if u can find 3 other wierdos to go in on it with u…comments to this comment encouraged

810 posts a lot of their segments
to be downloaded. Not sure about 610 sports (although I’m not sure if you’d want to listen to anything from them).
AOL Fanhouse just started doing a podcast last week and I know MJD on Yahoo does a football podcast.

The fact that they spent some solid time talking about them...
is great, and I think it’s a good sign that the Royals are gaining respectability nationally. But…they initially thought Gathright was still on the team, didn’t think Coco was a lock to get the majority of the time in CF, and Berry insisted on mispronouncing Teahen’s name as “Tay-hen”.
I think somehow, some way, the Royals have become an en vogue “sleeper” team. All these guys spend a good chunk of their time everyday reading each other and talking to each other. So, one guy starts thinking about a team that could essentially come out of nowhere and would be a good story, he throws it out there in a post, article, or conversation, and the next thing you know, everyone else just jumps on the journalist/blogger bandwagon. Many times, as shown by this podcast, by guys who don’t actually know much about the team.

I'd be more excited if people who knew about baseball were saying all this
Now I simply know to ignore Berry altogether.
Bringing you more-or-less replacement level analysis and commentary since sometime in 2008.

Berry is a very plausible baseball insider...

Simmons is uber busy...
and he would be a perfect scout…I trust Simmons…he as basically helped me to many fantasy football dollars…first round byes in 4 out of 4 leagues in ’07, and made playoffs in all 5 leagues in ’08…thats gotta be worth something…so he is God scout of the NBA, close to the top in NFL, and pretty damn knowledgeable at MLB…in Simmons I trust

As for podcasts
I like the BS report on occasion.
The one that just started which is just money is Adam Carolla’s. His radio show is over so now he does a podcast every day from his house. Just get it through his website or itunes. Funny shit.
They like Jacobs…..psh
At least Wally Joyner's not on the team....

You should listen to Soren Petro's podcasts
which are normally just his weekly segments with guests like Doug Gottlieb, Jayson Stark, or Tim Grunhard. They’re the best I know of as far as local talk. Search for “810 WHB” or “The Program” on iTunes.
BS Report is normally pretty good. The ESPN Fantasy Focus one can be amusing in a sort of morning-drive talk radio kind of way. I listen to lots of podcasts but those are the only sports ones I really check out.
