Teahen to Yankees?

As I was reading some Tom Verducci analysis of Alex Rodriguez's hip injury, I began to wonder if the Yankees would consider Mark Teahen as a stop-gap should Rodriguez miss extended time.

Star-divide

Teahen is relatively cheap by Yankee standards and I can't silence the nagging voice in the back of my head that tells me Dayton Moore is looking to move a body or two as the inevitable injury bug bites other teams.

I have no idea what implications this may have for either club beyond likely helping the Royals lower their payroll and remove one competitor from battles for the right side of the infield.  I can't imagine Teahen would fetch much given the previous failed attempts to move him.  What are your thoughts?  Salary and draft pick(s) perhaps?

This is my first FanPost on this blog.  I'm more of a football fan, but I love Kansas City sports teams, both past and present.

The current word from the Yankees

…is that ARod is going to play through this. I’ve heard from a couple of doctors in the NY media (not Yankees doctors) that playing through this is possible, but iffy. Sometimes with proper treatment you can play through it and sometimes there is excruciating pain that really prevents that. The only way to tell is to try to play and see what happens. And the intense pain can come at any time. Everything can be going fine and then suddenly it will hit. So, if all goes well, he’ll be ready around opening day. Or, he could go down at any time.

So right now it looks like the Yankees aren’t looking for a replacement full-time third baseman. But that could change.

Dumb idea

Very win now. A-Rod still has Nine years left on his contract.

Waiting for April.

It's got to be a completely different feeling being a Yankees fan

When a star player goes down during ST on a small market team, the fans think “What AAAA or DFA’d player can we pick up? Is Jason Smith available?”

Royals need Teahen

Not necessarily to start, but a guy who can serve as primary backup for all 3 OF spots + 3B, plus serve as an excellent pinch runner and probably above avg LH pinch hitter is more valuable to us than to the Yankees. To me, that means NY would not offer equal value, at least as KC would define it.

Mr Glass, this is a pro sports team, not a retail store - run it like one!

It all depends on whether the Yankees eventually prove to need a starting third baseman

Basically the only decent potentially available 3B’s are Atkins and Teahen.

Melvin Mora?

Perhaps

I think Atkins and Teahen’s names were being floated because there were trade rumors about them in the offseason. I don’t know that the Orioles have expressed any interest in trading him. But it seems like it would be a good idea for them.

If the O's could get anything tangible for Mora,

I think they’d deal him. He has a no trade clause, though.

i want to know

do you think it would be better for the royals if the yankees signed grudzielanek or for us to trade them teahen (you deciding what teahen is worth to the yankees)?

I think signing Grudz
