he's thrown a whopping 48 pitches
realistically speaking
they already called the bus for omaha
realistically speaking
The important thing there
is that Billy had the presence of mind and the ability to make the play at the plate. Huge positive there.
This space for rent.

Hopefully, Buck is transitioning into the starter role.
He has been heads-and-tails better than Olivo, so far this year.
buck just killed that rally before it started

I give the game thread-up pic

Revisiting my Fanpost
Olivo is 3-17 with 1 double, and 11 Ks.
Buck is 5-10 with 1 K, 1 double, and 2 homers
he has a pretty good changeup tonight
realistically speaking
Yeah.
He has looked much, much better than his last start.
We are still incredibly hacktastic as a team, but this isn’t the same Pavano that started off the season.
he really didn't pitch
that bad last September
Are you telling me Jesus Christ cant hit a curve ball?

he's probabyl going to be decent
for a 4-5 starter
realistically speaking
That's good news from him for a change
Now do it again for another month or two
Hey!
Avilanche with a double.
Sweet, man. Hopefully that gets him going.
OK, DDJ. Time for some insurance, hey?
Which one of you guys is on the Royals radio broadcast...
loudly heckling Pavano? :)
We'll see
But i seriously think 85 wins and contending for the division are not out of the question.
Statiscially, only the Indians really had a chance.
And this slow-ass start is certainly not helping their case.
And our top end of the rotation
matches up well with the playoff set up.
Noise could certainly be made.
they should just hand us the trophy

alright Davies, lets get a quick inning
realistically speaking
I'm guessing they just try to get him through this inning
and that leadoff double doesn’t’ help
realistically speaking
Informal Survey for my Streak for the Cash pick for tonight
Who will get more total bases in tonight’s game?
Ortiz vs Eveland: 1 for 2 career (1B)
Cust vs Daisuke: 3 for 8 career (HR, 1B, 1B)
Cust walks a lot, Dice-K walks a lot of guys
safe bet to me
realistically speaking
Ortiz != good swing at this point in time
realistically speaking
Yeah, walks don't count :(
Pickers keep arguing about this over on ESPN but that just means they’re using bad decision to make a pick
Eveland is left handed isn't he?

They are making alot of assumptions on Davies
Bloops pretty much all over the place since the 5th
I don't know how to put this but I'm kind of a big deal.

Dammit, dammit.
Could have been a huge play, there, by Billy.

OK, this is a huge batter.

Still a pretty nice effort from Kyle
didn’t have his best stuff, got burned on some bloop hits, still solid
realistically speaking
Wow.
Hillman with the quick leash.
I would have left Davies in there, but I’m fine with this move, as well.
I’m a big fan of Robinson.
bad luck on our part
grounder to Gordon takes odd path and Billy handcuffed by that hit
I don’t think Gloadie could have made that play
"Things could always be worse." - Buddy Bell
Kyle pitched great for 4 innings and just
had some bad luck the last two innings. Ahead on some guys who got hits and alot of bloops hopefully Robinson can get the out so he is still in line for the win
I don't know how to put this but I'm kind of a big deal.
I love seeing a player like Tejeda reward Hillman for his confidence in him
Solid.
realistically speaking
Well, that was quick.
Awesome job, Robinson. I absolutely love that guy.
He has to pitch the 7th now, too, yes? After that dominant performance, I would think so.
is Soria even available tonight
realistically speaking
I'd go with Tejeda for the 7th.
Cruz for the 8th and Soria for the 9th.
Or, hopefully we can score some runs and extend the lead, so we don’t have to use Soria again.

It's a little smaller than I'm used to
Lived in Lawrence the previous eleven years, but was close enough to KC. Richmond is maybe about 2/3rds the size.
Moving to the East Coast (yes, caps) was the bigger adjustment. I get the impression that Virginia is East Coast Lite, but it’s just different. People aren’t nearly as chatty or friendly- they just keep to themselves. It’s not really a selfish thing- there’s some of that but, heck, the drivers in KC are worse than here being over-aggressive dolts- but everyone just keeps to themselves. You make eye contact, that’s peculiar. You speak to someone out of the blue, that’s just crazy. It’s an adjustment and not my favorite.
The city itself is nice, tho. Again, living in a forest is different than the plains. It isn’t overcrowded in the least (not that KC really is- not like Houston, where I’m from originally, or something like Chicago or DC). It has some nice amenities as it’s still decently large and DC isn’t that far away. Having the best tourist city in the country two hours away is nice. But you don’t feel like you live in the middle of a huge city and it doesn’t take forever to get anywhere. It’s a nice size but I worry about the long term job market.
by sterlingice on Apr 14, 2009 10:20 PM EDT up reply actions
interesting that you describe it like that
because virginia likes to think of itself as the good ole south
I know it does
But I’ve been to both the South and the East and this seems more like the East. Sure, there are some people who sound like Foghorn Leghorn or look like Colonel Sanders, but it doesn’t “feel” like the South. And I’m saying that having been to the Confederate Museum and Confederate White House here in Richmond. It feels like modern Virginia is more like the East.

Unless... Hillman is going to try and get 2 from Cruz again tonight

nothing better than going to a game with 11,000 people and berating the other team nonstop
i love it
realistically speaking
Ditto i got like 10 texts in 30 seconds
and he not only flipped the bat, he threw it….. BA
Mike Jacobs.... I hope your bat has as much lift as your hair does.....
i missed it...
crap! oh well… i will still take it!

Always nice to see Chawless Vinny Choke
with the game on the line.
Just got home from work in time for Buck’s slam. Nice welcome.
That's huge for this morale, too.
The stadium erupted. After two awfully boring games last night and tonight, that one swing gives everyone all of these good, fuzzy feelings going into tomorrow.
Hopefully we go on a nice, little hot streak.
And hopefully we can get more than 11K next homestand.
I think the rest of the Royals
have 2

This is the same Buck
that has a hot streak every year and then ends up hitting .225. I’m not at all trying to throw water on a fire but he’s done this kind of thing before and then vanished before our very eyes.
that's why he's gotta get ABs now
miggy can play when buck sucks again.
That I agree with
as long as people don’t expect him to mash like Reggie Jackson. The past few seasons he’s been good for two hits a week. I hope he keeps crushing the ball. He always seems to hit better when he knows he has competition for playing time.
Yeah, last time he disappeared
Buddy Bell told him to change his swing after hitting 12 homers in 2 months, or somthing like that.
Last year his wife and babies were in the hospital.
I think Buck is back.
Might as well let TPJ take some hacks
that way Trey can say that he played him twice in one week

3 outs
and lets go home. im starving and i missed dinner tonight. this library chair is awfully uncomfortable.
I'm not completely sold on Buck yet
I think he should play more than once per week, but he doesn’t stay hot very long
Nah, this is one of his hot streaks
But best to ride it while it’s going on
by sterlingice on Apr 14, 2009 10:59 PM EDT up reply actions
gotta ride it.
he’ll cool off before long though.
Just a warning.
Olivo will certainly start tomorrow. It’s a day game after a night game, all of that nonsense.
But Buck should absolutely be the starter Friday night.
Frank
just said it shouldn’t matter this early in the season

maybe Buck Dh's
that wouldn’t be a bad idea vs the lefty
I don't know how to put this but I'm kind of a big deal.
It's not that rare for Trey
and that was when he only had catchers on the roster
I don't know how to put this but I'm kind of a big deal.
With Guillen on the DL
and the fact that we are carrying 3 catchers, I have no problem DH’ing Buck a few times
FKA "MileHighKCfan"
What's going to happen with Brayan Pena?
I hope he sees a few more AB’s
I love Pena.
Thought he was awesome on Sunday, his only real PT.
I hope we trade Olivo and make Pena the backup, personally.
Man Buck...
Has 2 Homers, threw a guy out, saved a kitten in a tree, hell of a good day for him

I sure hope so.
Games like tomorrow will be what really determines whether we make a run at the playoffs or not, IMO.
With our 4/5 pitchers starting, but very winnable games against equally matched pitchers.

He coherently articluated his approach to the pitcher
and then said Brett and Seitzer have been on him for 5 years to approach hitting this way, and he’s finally listening.
Gotta love Buck.
Hopefully he really has finally “learned” after 5 years.
We could REALLY use a breakout season from someone.
Ponson going for the sweep

Ryan just reminded me
The Royals started 5-3 last year.
It killed my optimism.
by Raisethefencesbackto12feet on Apr 14, 2009 11:20 PM EDT reply actions
xactly
I heard that and had the same thought. But, now’s the time for optimism. The team seems pumped up which is good. It also seems Buck is trying to be a leader in the dugout. I guess I just don’t remember him being as rah rah last year. Perhaps it’s just that he’s hot right now.
