we all know that batting order means very little…while pitcher selection in high leverage situations does matter…

How much does it matter in one single game?
Yes you can look at the outcome after the fact and say it was huge. But the same can be said sometimes of lineup construction. But, when you look at it before you know the outcome (like if the Farnsy situation were to happen again), one relief pitching decision in one game isn’t a huge deal. It would appear that having Gload 2009 in the 4-hole is not dissimilar to having Emil Brown 2007 in the 4-hole. Pinch hit for them later in the game? Still a ridiculous, losing strategy, IMO.
