Not going to lie
I think Hillman has been a colossal failure as manager. At times, his weaknesses are really transparent, such as in today’s game. At other times, he can cover it up. However, the sensible games don’t counter for the eff-ups. They seldom do. Hillman isn’t the manager of the future.

I think I've pinpointed the problem.
Trey just doesn’t seem to be able to react to critical situations. He makes a lot of good moves when he’s holding all the cards, but when things are dicey, he has this preternatural ability to do the wrong thing.

But Teahen got thrown out a 2B tying to stretch a short single. Jacobs hit a 440 foot bomb. Gordo hit it 408 to dead center for a F8. and Olivo hit a moonshot down the line just foul.

I think that the series will tell us a lot
about our ability to actually compete.
They are the type of series that we have to win AT LEAST 2 games. Maybe even sweep.
Texas is a pretty good team, but when we have our 1-2-3 going against winnable teams, they have to win.

but unless you think “clutch” is the be-all-end-all, the offense ended up pretty good

Olivio’s strike-out rate dropped from 65 percent of plate appearances to 62 percent! At this rate, he’ll draw a walk by July.
