Rany on the Royals: No Reason To Jump Hip.
This had to be posted, even if only for this line...
"If Willie Bloomquist is the Spork, what does that make Teahen? A solid-gold Swiss Army knife, the one that’s like 2 inches thick and has 43 different gizmos attached?"
Seems appropriate after his recent five-hit game, no?

Teahen’s flirtation with second base gets the cold shower for a few months
Much better than a golden shower.
If you were thinking, you wouldn't have thought that.
Interesting notes from Rany's radio show
- Will Carroll, BP’s injury guru, said that Alex Gordon (and Alex Rodriguez) both have very positive prognoses when they come back from their injuries. Also, it is quite possible that neither will require additional surgery after the season has ended.
- Kevin Goldstein, BP’s prospect guru, saw Hosmer play in Burllington on a day where he didn’t get a hit and had a bunch of strikeouts. But he talked to other scouts at the game who have been watching him this season and they were very impressed and thought he was the “real deal.” KG basically thinks Hosmer’s stats early this season will be down as he adjusts to pro ball in the cold, as Moustakas had to last season. KG concluded by saying that he thinks Hosmer is going to be a special player and that he has zero concern over Hosmer’s slow start.
- KG’s sleeper prospects 1) Salvador Perez © 18-year-old Latin American FA playing in Burlington. Big, strong, good arm, clean swing, projectable power. A project with good physical tools. 2) Chris Lubanski “looks like a totally different human being.” Lost a lot of weight. Might actually become a useful bench OFer.
I sure hope he’s right about Lubanski. If he ever actually contributes to a major league team, even in a meaningful bench role, I’ll be shocked.

since KG is taking over a lot of the slack from Silver's departure
shouldn’t he be slumped over a stats textbook? Does he really need to tell us “not to worry” about 1 week of stat from Hosmer?

I think that's about as deep into statistical analysis as KG can get
He can go as far as common sense stuff like “don’t put too much stock in small samples of stats.” That’s about it. That’s not really KG-bashing, but he’s a tools guy who is familiar with stats, but he’s no statistical analyst.

I agree, I didn't mean to put him down
I guess we as fans probably always need to hear that, but given my lack of familiarity with prospect analysis means that I’m probably more worried now that KG said not to worry than I was before, when I just thought “one week, who cares?”
