booooooo

bloomquist.

This is why I was against him even being on the team. You can’t trust Hillman with these kinds of players. He falls in love with them.

by Bart41 on Apr 21, 2009 6:34 PM EDT reply actions

Right

Hillman clearly injured Guillen to play more Bloomquist. It’s not that he’s in love with him, just that there’s too much love for major league “experience” over the minor-league Maier.

I think that was pretty much Bart’s point.

Quick Question:

Why has Trey yet to drop AViles in the order for “struggling”, or whatever, when he so quickly dropped Alex last year and dropped Jacobs this year.

Not to say that those moves were poor, or that leaving Aviles up at the top is THAT bad, but it just doesn’t seem to jive.

by rockchalk on Apr 21, 2009 7:19 PM EDT reply actions

That must be it.

That’s the only possible explanation.

Reason why fielding percentage is a stupid stat:

Apparently, we have the “best defense” in the American League, errors-wise.

We are awful on defense. Fielding percentage is so stupid.

Of course, our home scorer has taken away like 3 errors already, so I’m sure that helps as well.

When I helped coach Little League,

my team’s head coach had to yell these two things over the course of one season, to one of our outfielders:

well I'll just disagree then

with one on, no way, but with a guy like Callaspo who doesn’t work counts, here isn’t a reason to not move them over and have runners on 2nd and 3rd with 1 out, you can still get a big inning

I understand

and you aren’t alone, I’m probably in the minority here…but I think it puts so much pressure on the defense and pitcher when you have an opportunity to get 2 runners in scoring position with less than 2 outs and no force out.

I would’ve rather given away one out than 2 outs there.

by I need more Esteban on Apr 21, 2009 8:19 PM EDT up reply actions

TPJ...you're dead to me

by billybeingbilly on Apr 21, 2009 8:20 PM EDT up reply actions

there really isn't any logic to that

sacrificing runners over is still trying to score, you are getting them each 90 feet closer to scoring, you are still trying to score.

But now my point is totally lost, because Ponson is crap and the Indians now have their big inning.

by I need more Esteban on Apr 21, 2009 8:21 PM EDT up reply actions

welp, this is the kind of night

we’re gonna have every once in awhile with the back end of the staff we have. Its just unfortunate it came after a disappointing loss and an off day.

Frank and Ryan

Need to quit talking nonsense!!!! We all know closers are for the 9th inning only!!!!!!!

Archaic morons!!!!!!

Hmmm dominant stuff. Two strikeouts on power fastballs. Sounds a lot like the guy that was built up as our great 9 million signing this offseason.

Much Better Than

That, just not as expensive.

In all seriousness

Do any of you think that managers will ever use their closers like the old firemen ever again?

by Chyladin on Apr 21, 2009 8:39 PM EDT reply actions

If you have two closers

then you don’t have to worry about pitching 2-3 innings on back-to-back days. Why not have closer 1a and 1b, and pitch your best guy the most as possible, then you use your closer 1b when 1a can’t go.

If you don't understand it, kill it.

It would be nice if this offense could score on a lefty

Last year KC hammered lefties, I guess Guillen out, Billy and Aviles strugglin will slow an offense down

I don't know how to put this but I'm kind of a big deal.

We had the best record in Baseball against LHP

It is some turnaround.

by wildthang on Apr 21, 2009 8:39 PM EDT reply actions

so since tejeda hasn't pitched in a week

does that mean he’ll be too strong to go more than 3 up 3 down, like soria on sunday?
