Game 16 Overflow Thread
It's been a helluva start to the season for Mike Aviles.
Question: would he have scored anyway on that play?
I think this game is demonstrating the relative value of starters versus relievers. Of course, I may not feel that way in an hour.

Guys.
We’re witnessing greatness. How often in this city do we get that chance? I mean, not local greatness, but true greatness. A few years ago with Priest Holmes and the touchdown record, that was a feeling of greatness.
But I’m talking about the kind of dominance that leaves opponents and scouting reports on the floor. We are really witnessing the single greatest series of starts in Royals history.
I love Wacko Zacko.

KC 0 ER
Omaha 0 R Dinardo 6 IP 1 H 0 R Rosa 3 IP 1 h 0 ER
NW Arkansas 0 Runs given up thru 8
I don't know how to put this but I'm kind of a big deal.
DINARDO NOW
I don’t know where the Royals could find a righty reliever for cheap, though

Not sure
if listening to Trey’s postgame presser is a good idea.
Leaning towards no.
If you were thinking, you wouldn't have thought that.
have to applaud Trey for his masterful deployment of Farnsworth tonight

Best part about ZG's postgame interview w/ Joel Goldberg...
“He’s become the best catcher in the world.”

BOOM! ROASTED!
Ok, maybe the doctors need to check the prescription again

hey, at least he is above .199 avg now!

He means Catcher...
in the most literal since…
Greinke obviously thinks he is a better hitter than Miggy

Mariano...
just gave up a game tying BOMB to Jason Bay

And on MLB Network
Talking about Papelbon going into the top of the 10th of a tie game, they just said “And you never bring in your closer on the road in a tie game but that’s what you do at home”
(this goes back to the Texas game, I guess)

Now they're APOLOGIZING for talking about Red Sox-Yankees too much
Wow. How self-conscious is that? They really do understand what annoys people about ESPN.
They said, “We don’t mean to keep showing you this matchup, but it’s a close game and its extra innings.”
Kansas City Royals: your 2006 and 2007 NL Central champions!
I haven't heard them mention
Greinke yet though

They seem to like ongoing games better than games that have already ended
They were providing updates on him during the game, and showed the end. And kept saying “Cy Young” while talking about him.

I think they're in love with their ability to hop into games live
and the ability to use instant updates.

The record for IP to start a season without an ER
is Fernando with 33IP….Orel’s at 55IP without an ER.
Amazing game for Zach.
Cubs’ fan (dtpollitt on BCB) over here in Lawrence working on a graduate degree @ KU. Heading out to the game tomorrow and gonna post a full recap of the NEW Kauffman over on BCB tomorrow night. I really love this Royals’ pitching staff and am excited for their season—puh-lease beat up on the White Sox this year. KC is quickly becoming my favorite AL team. Congrats on a good start.

sorry I cant return the favor...
Im not a Cubs fan, though I guess I wouldn’t mind you guys beating up on the Cards all year
And since you asked my NL team might have to be the Dodgers, but that might entirely be because of Alyssa Milano

Their pitching staff sucks.
I think the Dodgers have the best 1-8 lineup in baseball this year, and I sure as hell don’t wanna see them in the playoffs again in 2009, but I’m not afraid of all at Randy Wolf & Co.

Bleeding Dawja Blue
Annoys me to no end. LaSorda was the worst offender. Most of their fans are still in/from Brooklyn. They do have a good lineup this year, though. No one in LA knows this.

FWIW
The White Sux are the team in our division I most hate and hope we spank the hell out of the most. We should be 3-0 on them now, but let’s not get into that.
And, I hope Greinke perfect games the fkng Red Sox.
"I'll be the first one to tell you, Don't follow me. I'll let you down. Follow Jesus." Trey Hillman
OK, got it.
The General Theory of Royaltivity
Greinke projections
Since the season is not even 10% complete, we can conservatively project Zack’s final stats to be 40 wins, 0 losses, 0.00 ERA and 360 strikeouts. Not bad.
