FS Kansas City woes
So, I get off work at midnight, eager to see Greinke's game tonight on MLB.tv when I get home.
(Forget for a second the fact that I feel dooped about MLB.tv anyway. Yes, I know I should have read the fine print, but why would they advertise at KAUFFMAN STADIUM that you can FOLLOW THE ROYALS LIVE with an elaborate video package? Meh. I'm sure I'm not the only person.)
What am I greeted with just before Zack's second K, interrupting it?
Why, this.
I know there is a fountain out there, but Jesus H. Christ, this has been an issue since the RSTN days. Can we figure out a way to keep the camera's from getting fountain residue on them?
(Currently on the 4th inning of blurry CF cam. For someone who sees things this way without his contacts in, I can tell you being reminded of what it looks like is NOT fun.)

Haha yea
I think its funny when it gets so bad that they have to change the angle to behind the plate

I agree
it’s pretty poor that they did all that construction and couldn’t find a place or way to eliminate this problem. I wonder if they even thought about it at all. When they showed those cameras they looked like they’re just on a small rolling platform on the concourse where the fans are. Kind of ridiculous.

I can't believe...
that they didn’t put the camera in straight-away center, like at the new busch. it’s so much better of an angle to watch the game…

I don't know how to put this but I'm kind of a big deal.

We need to put a remote came on a pole out in CF somewhere that gives us that view from directly behind the pitcher.

I'd say take it easy
we’re dealing with electronics that sometimes are unpredictable, the cameras fogged up from the fountains…you think the people for FSN wanted to F up? Let’s give them a chance to fix the problem before we jump all over them.

Was blowing pretty hard, and that rarely happens in KC.

I'm not blaming FSN
It’s the architect’s fault. They are famous for ignoring functionality in favor of aesthetics. Or they just didn’t understand the requirements. Or forgot.
Seems like they could have a booth in the area of the walkway under the scoreboard over to the left field side that looks through our new big green monster. Unless even that location is too centered to see around the pitcher well enough.

Did they just use the whole RSTN staff for FSNKC?
Because it really didn’t get any better after the switch

It's not just camera placement and wind/blown fountain spray
It’s like they’ve got a drunk production rookie in the truck. AT LEAST 3 times a game, they miss showing the key parts of a play as it happens live because they can’t switch between the right cameras in time. It’s almost like it turns into a radio broadcast for a few seconds, except that Ryan doesn’t realize the guys in the truck are screwing up the transitions, so you don’t always know what’s going on until 5-10 seconds later.

A buddy of mine
Who worked on the stadium said that it didn’t occur to anyone til about midway through that the fountains were going to absolutely drench anyone sitting near them on even a slightly windy day.

They could improvise,
and start giving a ticket discount to gals in bikinis. But, that could go very bad, very fast.
