Went to Camden Yards (for the second time) yesterday to see the Orioles and Rangers play. I really like their stadium. It has real character with all of the brickwork and arches, not to mention the old warehouse in the back. I don't like the way the bullpen sets up to where there's just a big empty space in Centerfield, but the ivy wall will help once the ivy reaches the top.

Game time temp was 88 degrees and it got higher. We got $15 tickets at the gate that were just in the shade down the leftfield line. Very good view, especially for the price. Food wasn't ridiculous either. Beer was $5.75, pretzel for $3-though I can't for the life of me understand why anyone would serve them without cheese.

We were also treated to an entertaining game. I had a feeling we'd see some runs scored with the TX Rangers in town. It took some time, but - sure enough - the O's figured out Brandon McCarthy and Jason Jennings to put 8 runs on the board and win 8-5. Adam Jones is a stud. I was impressed enough with two doubles in two ABs, but he later hit a three-run homer that took the lead, finishing the game 3 for 4.

Anyway, everyone should check out Camden sometime. The fans are friendly, the prices reasonable, the team is young, and the stadium beautiful. Peace!

Love Adam "Don't call me pac-man" Jones

He’s on my fantasy team and I’m very happy I drafted him as of now

I haven't been to that many stadia (or stadiums)

but I think Camden has been the PERFECT example of how to do the “retro,” new, but fake-old ballpark look. They incorporated it into the surrounding area almost perfectly, it’s within walking distance of the Inner Harbor area, and it didn’t seem like parking was a big deal either.

It’s kind of sad to go there and think about how cool a similar park could have been if incorporated into downtown KC. I know a lot of people are big tailgating fans, but to me that’s just for football. I’d rather have a nice little walk into the stadium where I can smell the hot dogs in vendor’s carts, listen to other guys hawking scorecards, pennants, etc. And it would be nice to be able to just walk to a bar or two before or after the game.

+1

Really like Camden Yards and it has held up remarkably well despite being the first retro new ballpark of this era.

Camden Yards

Has the best hot dogs I have ever had at a stadium. And they have vendors that sell them in the stands which the K REALLY needs to do.

The crabcakes were actually a bit disappointing, but I bet that’s like BBQ at the K – more for the tourists, but you’re better off getting the good stuff at a restaurant, not at the stadium.

PHILLIPS FTW!!!111

And not the frozen ones out of the box you can get at Costco. Fresh ones, with huge lumps of crab. The Inner Harbor location has a cool view and good ambiance, too.
