Fun story

Once I smashed up my car (a Corolla, incidentally), and pulled it into the adjacent Kia lot while I waited for the tow truck. A lot of accidents happen at that intersection, apparently – the dealer came out and offered me a $500 discount on any car on the lot.

I said: “No thanks.”
I thought: “Go fuck yourself, you vulture.”

I probably would never have bought a Kia anyway, but that made a fine nail in the coffin.

I'm kind of surprised he hasn't shown a little more pop

I would say though that he is gonna have to emerge

rather quickly because with all the CF types in A+ ball his days could be numbered.

DDJ is gonna be around for a while longer, Coco is here likely next year and out of DRob, Lough, Orlando or Ortiz one will likely emerge as a CF’r.

His arm isn't what you would expect out of a former catcher.

I would say that given enough AB’s he could be a credible CF’r if Defense is as valuable as they think

I don't know how to put this but I'm kind of a big deal.

by kcscoliny on Apr 28, 2009 10:48 PM EDT up reply actions

seems like there's a fair amount of disagreement about his defense in CF

not that it’s bad, but I’ve read people saying anywhere from average to very good, if I remember correctly. Hard to say what his bat is really like in with so fwe major league PAs (so far).

NOt to beat it into the ground, but I really think between him and Tug, they could have covered Willie’s spots at half the price.

by Matt Klaassen on Apr 28, 2009 10:51 PM EDT up reply actions

I think he has long stride range

Not gonna react as well to Coco at line drives but can chase a long flyball down. Coco just seems so quick. Maier seems to be the mix of DDJ and Coco defensively. I think his defense will only get better because he has only played the outfield for a few years compared to most.

I don't know how to put this but I'm kind of a big deal.

by kcscoliny on Apr 28, 2009 10:54 PM EDT up reply actions

I wondered about that, too

Tough to compare anyone to Crisp defensively. Just so athletic and smart.
