We some how pull this out, and Farny gets the win.

i think a lot of it is just blowing off steam, but at the same time
when people predict that something is going to go wrong for weeks and weeks, then it immediately does—well, you can’t really be surprised that people are upset
I can't wait for the post game
Hillman will blame this on the offense wasting opportunities, and nobody will ask him why Farnsworth was in the game.
realistically speaking
Lefty vs. Lefty
I know we don’t have room in this bullpen for a lefty specialist, a guy just to come and get one out. But there were two outs in the eighth when Thome hit that homer off a righty. That one out could have been made by a lefty, correct?
by JarrodPattersonFan on Apr 7, 2009 4:37 PM EDT reply actions
not when a proven setup man is pitching
Kansas City Royals: your 2006 and 2007 NL Central champions!
So you are saying
You would rather a proven setup guy be allowed to stay in, instead of managing to win the game?
by JarrodPattersonFan on Apr 7, 2009 4:39 PM EDT up reply actions
And ...
That is what’s wrong here. It’s common sense. Thome had two hits against righties already. He hadn’t seen a lefty, You put Mahay in to get that final out or the lefty specialist on our roster. Oh wait, don’t have one one of those

Yeah, I was being sarcastic, sorry about that.
I’m just annoyed as all of us are
Kansas City Royals: your 2006 and 2007 NL Central champions!
I hope the Royal just tie, not go ahead
that way Kyle Farnsworth can have a chance to redeem himself in the bottom of the 9th
the royals really, really should have won this one. Still might.

and we thought managers only accounted for about 3 games a year
we talked about this last season
If he just blows the first three games of the season, it’s a free ride from then on!

People can say it's just one game
But we also just pissed away an amazing performance by one of our best pitchers, and now have to pitch HORACIO RAMIREZ AND SIDNEY PONSON IN THE NEXT 4 GAMES. 1-4 start anybody?

I worry about that sort of thing
I don’t have numbers or stats, but would love to see a study. However, for the next few games after a blown game the offense seems to give less for a few days. Zack can still win those games as can Gil. But can anyone else on the staff?

Thome is the ChiSox most dangerous hitter. You’ve got to put your best reliever in to face him at that point in the game. (Note to Hillman – that’s obviously NOT Farnsworthless! – note to cmkeller – I was writing this before your message posted – did not know that he’s been called this before!)

ESPN's Fantasy Projection for Farnsworth proves prophetic
“2009 Season Outlook
Farnsworth’s problem isn’t strikeouts, though he’s a far cry from his 10.6 K/9 of five years ago. Rather his penchant for giving up the big blast, surrendering a home run about every four outings in 2008, was his primary bugaboo.”
PRIMARY BUGABOO STRIKES AGAIN!!!
They stranded a sh*tload of guys. It was inevitable. Happens every year.
We blow ops and then the other team gets its footing and wins.
Perhaps...
and this is a tiny perhaps, its good that Hillman learned his lesson game 1, instead of any day later than game 1
Are you telling me Jesus Christ cant hit a curve ball?
He didn't learn from games 1-162 last season
At least we won’t have to see GOBBLE VS. RIGHTIES this year.
Banny being Banny.
That's assuming he's capable of learning the lesson, or knows
what he should derive from this occurrence. If he believes Farns is a setup man, he will surely not overreact to “one bad outing”. This will continue for awhile, don’t kid yourself.
all these comments apply Dayton Moore as well

We did have the bases loaded with no outs
So it isn’t all Farnsy/Hillman’s fault, but damn it hurts when we can see it coming, and don’t look away. It’s unexcused, yet there are 161 more games to blow.
"Looks like I picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue."
Definitely true.
Had the offense gotten a few timely hits, this would be a non-issue. But that’s not really the problem. The problem is that we think Farnsworth was the best option there. Sometimes, you put the best guy out there and it doesn’t work. That’s nothing to get worked up about. But this is an example of putting the wrong guy in the high leverage situation and it’s frustrating.
Yes
I agree. In this game perhaps there should have been more runs. But in any 2-1 situation in the eighth, whether there should have been more runs or not, Farnsy was deemed the correct choice.
Kansas City Royals: your 2006 and 2007 NL Central champions!
