I probably am more sympathetic to Gobble than most here on this board; what you posted probably needs to be said.

I'm with you.

Obviously he sucked for the most part last year, but historically he’s been tough on lefties. Unfortunately, Hillman threw him out there against everybody.

he was absolutely unhittable vs. lefties last year....

his best year ever against lefties…

however, there’s no point to him being on this team b/c our manager is a dumbass

TPJ...you're dead to me

Applicable quote from JoePo article today in the Star...
Hillman had a perfectly good lefty reliever, Ron Mahay, all warmed up in the bullpen.

"Mahay is not a lefty specialist," Hillman explained in his postgame comments. And it is true Mahay is only slightly better against lefties than he is against righties. The Royals, you might recall, did have a true lefty specialist, Jimmy Gobble, who had given up only one hit to Thome in seven at-bats. They released Gobble in large part because Hillman does not like lefty specialists.

How about someone who is actually on the team currently.

HoRam vs Thome
.077 .143 .154 .297 in 14 PA’s and 13 Ab’s

I don't know how to put this but I'm kind of a big deal.

If Gobble comes in to face Thome right there he walks him on 4 straight NOT EVEN close to the zone...

just like every other LH batter he faced first in an inning…. then we’ve got them loaded…

Everyone's recruits look better than ours.
