Is it me,

Oh, absolutely.
One guy to pitch the 7th, one to pitch the 8th, and Soria to pitch the 9th. 140 appearances each. Total win.
This space for rent.
Hell,
Why is TPJ on the roster if we’re not going to put him in as a defensive replacement in the bottom of the ninth to protect our two run lead. Last night we subbed Bloomy in for Guillen in RF. Me, I would have put Teahen in RF, Aviles at 2B, and TPJ in at SS at the very least.

After the game last night
Trey said he doesn’t like to make more than one def substitution…surprisingly, no one in the, ahem, astute media surrounding followed up with a “why?”

EVERYONE WOULDVE BEEN MORE COMFORTABLE....
Bloomy at 2nd, Teahen in right…and still only take one bat out of the lineup
TPJ...you're dead to me
by billybeingbilly on Apr 9, 2009 1:54 PM EDT up reply actions
Do you think Trey is trying to show confidence in Mark at 2B?
That is one thought that I had for not moving him to RF. Who knows with Hillman but I could see that being his thought process.
FKA "MileHighKCfan"
thats possible...but if thats going to be the case....
then Bloomquist was an even more awful signing…he’s not good defensively in the OF and we’re not going to use him at his two best defensive positions
TPJ...you're dead to me
by billybeingbilly on Apr 9, 2009 1:59 PM EDT up reply actions
in all fairness
they signed him before they knew Teahen would take well to the position switch
FKA "MileHighKCfan"
That's what I said last night
over on Rany’s blog. I can accept Hillman choosing to show confidence in Mark, so long as he continues to be adequate.

Isn't Danks a lefty?
If so, I wouldn’t have minded seing Olivo DH instead of Guillen today. Though it is a day game after a night game so it makes perfect sense that he is sitting. But I like his bat against lefties better than Guillen’s bat against anybody.
I do like that Gordon and Aviles have been paired up, especially since Gordon moved up one spot in the order.
FKA "MileHighKCfan"
I think Jose would mind....
and doesnt Jose RAKE against lefties?
TPJ...you're dead to me

I'm sure he would mind plenty
But I was just hoping that Olivo could get on a roll by facing a lefty

that's just one year
I talked a bit about this in my Driveline post earlier this week — everyone, especially RH hitters, tend to regress to league average splits. When you do that with Guillen’s projections — you get his career spltsi.
With his projections, though, he still projects as the second best Royals vs. RHP, Butler is #1.

Stuck in StL
Been here all week, caught the first 3 innings Wednesday and all of the game last night. Luckily, the bar up the road from the hotel doesn’t get much of a Cardinals following so I had no problem getting a tv with the Royals game.

realistically speaking
And according to GameDay
Coco loves to face cutters! Does Danks throw a cutter?
FKA "MileHighKCfan"
It just feels wrong to see Spork in right
It makes TPJ’s roster spot seem redundant. Why not have Bloomquist as the right handed backup infielder and then a backup OF like Maier or Costa who has a little pop in the bat. I guess if Hillman thinks he needs a righty there, then I have no idea.
Anybody check out the little hot/cold zone thing on Gameday yet?

I think he got more slack on the borderline pitch on the outside than he has the last two years. Seemed like every time the call could go either way, it was a called strike 3. Not so far this year.

It occurs to me
that hitting AJ should be grounds for an instant suspension.
Because there’s no way in hell AJ’s ever been hit by a pitch accidentally, right?

Got the Royals’ broadcast on MLB.tv
But also have the White Sox on the MLB Extra Innings preview, just in case MLB.tv loses the feed again.
Sucky thing about Dish Network
We don’t even have MLBEI at all, so I can’t even watch the free preview.
On the one hand, I guess Dish Network can be applauded for telling MLB to fuck off re: their demands. On the other, STFU AND PUT MLB NETWORK ON AND GIVE ME MY BASEBALL.

I can understand
say, blocking FSNMW within White Sox territory. They have a reasonable expectation that people within their market should tune into the CSNCHI feed (and thus get local ads and local network brand imprinting).
But goddamn it, there is no reason at all why anyone outside the CSNCHI market should be unable to watch this game. None at all.
