Hillman is learning that whole R/L/R/L…..thing. Bloomers relieves Aviles; not the worst move, but when the D has a weak spot, the ball will find it.

Not so bad
I like Butler in the 3 spot. I would still rather Callaspo and Dejesus switch places.
Maybe I'm Imagining
Things, but I see a logic there. Coco and Bert are both S’s; splitting them up could be a late game advantage, as they’re both sandwiched between an R/L combo.
I used to be an A's fan until they left town and got good.

you know what?
Best logic I’ve heard yet rationalizing Bert that far down in the order.
If you were thinking, you wouldn't have thought that.
I like this lineup a lot
Like I said the only thing I’d like to see is Callaspo further up and DDJ further down.
yup
Keep in mind that DDJ is hitting RHP at .840 — around what he has for his career. His troubl this year is entirely against lefties.
Also keep in mind that although Callaspo is htting RHP about that well this year, historically he’s better against LHP. Also keep in mind that there is no way he’s this good, and that playing time distribution/batting order based on “hot streaks” is,um, a really “problematic” idea in the same sense that letting Kyle Farnsworth pitch to Jim Thome is ’problematic."
I'm not a sabermetrician, but I do play one at Driveline Mechanics.

is Bloomquist better or worse than Aviles at short?
I’ve seen mixed reviews on this, but it certainly makes sense that if he’s worse, Bloomquist get his at-bats when Greinke (a flyball pitcher who for the most part this season hasn’t needed the defense behind him for all that much) is on the mound…
of course, it’s not Aviles is doing much to justify his spot in the lineup

I Don't Know
If Trey thinks that deeply, but it’s a good point. Sporgie will not embarrass, but he’s not who you want in the field, anywhere.

are there 10 black guys better than Paul Pierce?
If Brian Roberts is in the top 20, he’s pretty freaking good.
If you were thinking, you wouldn't have thought that.
of course he's good.
He’s just about as close to the best White Baseball player as Paul Pierce is to the best black basketball player.

something's going on
all of our pitchers are getting teed up. I realize Zack has only given up one run through 3 innnings but he’s having trouble finding the zone and they’re getting good swings. is this just the randomness of the season or was our pitching staff oversold?
I hereby resign from this post.

seems they either got lucky with him or figured something out.
Still very early too.
If you were thinking, you wouldn't have thought that.
pitchers sound like
they are just pounding the strike zone against us. I remember a few years back when Tony Pena was manager they really worked on plate discipline and it didn’t take long to figure out that we were taking, and it seemed like every batter started out 0-2. this year is starting to seem like that. the problem is that when we swing early we’re not doing anything with it, hence a lot of quick innings.
I hereby resign from this post.

-Like the 3 run homer in the 4th that got us back into a 5-1 game against the White Sox
-Or the 2 run homer in the 2nd against the Rangers to tie the game in the ill fated Farnsworth III (I think that was game 3,right?)
