If they hit our guy in the head

we hit their equivalent player in the ass with a 95-mph heater. Don’t want to permanently injure the guy, but the good old law of Solon (“an eye for an eye…”) still holds true. Since JosĂ© is our right fielder, their right fielder should pay. I have no doubt that Zack will do so. He enjoys that kind of thing.

i remember when mussina was with the o’s – i can’t remember the year – when he was on pace for a cy young season – the o’s had a brawl with a team i can’t remember – mussina was charged and roughed up a bit – he was never the same that year.

Dumb quote from a Tiger

“I remember when I was with the Astros,” said Tigers shortstop Adam Everett, “we always played the Rangers home-and-home, and it seemed like they always beat the snot out of us. And the Cardinals always played the Royals, and it seemed like they always swept them. So that was like a five-win difference right there.”

Didn’t we smack the Cards last year?

Olivo theory

remember how after he signed last season there was a “misunderstanding” because he thought he’s been “promised” the starting job or something.

I think a similar think happened when he was being told about the strike zone.

Imagine if we’d just given him the money we gave Juan Gonzalez and part of the money we gave Guillen. It must be something to have good players that are also good in the clubhouse. We could have made our big FA purchase a year ago on a decent ML SS.

One thing about Ibáñez

is that the Royals gave him his first shot at a real starting job when he was fairly advanced in years. Not that he’s permanently indebted to us, but he should remember that his first success happened in Royal blue. I’ve always liked him; I suspect everybody has.

How much do we miss Soria?

Instead of Ho Ram, maybe it’s Wright to start the inning, or Mahay. Then Cruz is available to pitch in a pinch in the 7th, start the 8th and turn it over to Jack. I think we’ve all kind of forgotten why the bullpen worked so well last year and early on this year. We just don’t have enough good bullpen guys when we are holding two guys out for the 8th and 9th.
