Game 42 Open Thread - Royals at Cardinals

Kansas City Royals at St. Louis Cardinals, May 22, 2009 8:15 PM EDT

Put Bloomquist at short and leave him

I’m so tired of Aviles doing NOTHING. I could do what he’s doing but I also suck at baseball.

Q: How do you know when Jason LaRue is up to bat without watching the game?

A: Wait and listen for the f-bomb that gets picked up by the tv microphone after he is unsuccessful a the the dish.

Too late.

Spent $100 at Sports Authority today.

(In all seriousness, I’m going to try to play some baseball for a rec class in Fall/Spring, but yeah, I am taking this a little serious lol).

You could probably platoon with Aviles at short

but I’m sure you have a little more pop in your bat. Can you play 150 games a year?

by stram#1 on May 22, 2009 9:32 PM EDT up reply actions

Also, I have seen enough Mike aviles.

He does not even resemble the same player of last year. No idea what has gone wrong, but it’s gone horribly, horribly, wrong. He needs some time in AAA to get his mind right.

by focs on May 22, 2009 9:33 PM EDT up reply actions

I don't know if he's changed something, or what...

But it makes no sense. He’s consistently late on fastballs he was pounding last season, this isn’t just BABIP regressing to the mean – I mean, he actually LOOKS like a different player at the plate. It’s really weird and quite unfortunate.

realistically speaking

by slayor on May 22, 2009 9:34 PM EDT up reply actions

It's gotta happen soon right?

I mean, they seriously can’t give another chance for every single he gets every 6 games right?

His feet are a mess in the box

if his forearm is hurt he needs to move back in the box so he has a little more time to react

I don't know how to put this but I'm kind of a big deal.

by kcscoliny on May 22, 2009 9:34 PM EDT up reply actions

At least a month in Omaha

so he can go on that long road trip because of the College World Series. Maybe eating some minor league food and a couple of bus rides will light a fire under him.

by stram#1 on May 22, 2009 9:34 PM EDT up reply actions

not sure if he needs "to light a fire under him"

he needs some serious mechanical help with his swing. it’s all jacked up.

He hits better with men on base

Find me a regular position player who doesn’t at least a little. He’s still vastly and massively overpaid, even if he was “clutch” which is a statisally debatable concept anyway.
