Bloomquist is red-hot Royal

The story itself is startling, but here's what I want to know: whom do we blame for all this talk of "the hot hand?" Especially "riding" it? I hear it all the time, and I hate it.

Right now he's doing the big things

Drawing walks, hitting, playing decent defense. I hope that continues and that he doesn’t face many RHP’s.

So, when he finishes the year with a BB rate in the teens,

do we say he’s had two outlier years in a row?

I think I’d do with that what we do with all of the rest of his stats. I’d look at recent seasons (like the last 3-5 years), and do some kind of average, which weights the most recent seasons more heavily than less recent seasons. My point here is that two seasons of data from a part-time player certainly count. But they also don’t cancel out every other piece of data.
