Royals Infect Mariners With Scurvy

I'm not sure how the Royals managed to get sixteen non-homer hits off of the Mariners tonight, including thirteen singles, but they did, and the won.

Meanwhile, Sidney Ponson, who had slid from "tough luck loser" to "sucky pitcher" over the last few weeks, reaped the benefits, and had his best start of the season. (And probably his best start since this game, back in last May.)

After going 3-5 against the Mariners in '06, and 3-6 in '07, the Royals have currently won eight of ten against Seattle dating back to the beginning of last season.

Could someone update us with a new territorial map of the key swing state of Wyoming? I made this one last season, and it's now out of date.

Oh, and how did the Royals get 17 hits off of the Mariners?

Because the Royals have a so-so offense and Silva and Olson suck. The Royals LD% in this game was huge.

Right. I think Will was saying that the Royals had 1 HR and 16 non-homer hits. I’m not sure what the point of that was. I guess it’s to point out that the Royals got a lot of singles, so it wasn’t really an impressive hitting performance for the Royals. So take out the HR, the doubles, the line drives and the walks and the Royals really didn’t do much offensively tonight.

i'd have to disagree

i was in section 212 (3rd base line, front row of the top level of the lower bowl) and it was a pretty respectful moment. farnsworth, however, damn near got lynched. it was intense. people were very, very angry with him from the moment he came in, and i’m pretty sure the announcer didn’t say his name. i almost wish he would have blown 4 or 5 runs so we could send him down for a few years and trade him for a bag of balls like he-who-must-not-be-named.

Schaum's speculation

He thinks the nature of the conflict between the two camps is who Gutierrez should be working out/rehabbing with. The Royals want their guy, Gutierrez wants it to be a Boras guy. I think Boras started this by stoking a fire under Gutierrez to get him to switch agents and sign with him. So Boras starts this and “stands by” his new client. Then he lets Gutierrez calm down and tells him that it’s in his best interest to do what the Royals say but promises he’ll get him big money down the line.

Bob Davis really isn't THAT bad

He is enthusiastic, which is more than you can say about Crabby Matthews, who gets cranky when games go longer than two hours.

I know a mentally challenged adult who is often enthusiastic too

I wouldn’t want him calling Royals games.

it seems like we’ve gotten onto an even better roll since Jacobs got rid of his ridiculous beard. Can one of the stat genius’s here do a correlation study on that?
