It made me happy this morning, as I filled out the crossword puzzle while on the subway, to fill in the four-letter word for the clue "Spork" with "G-R-I-T".
OK, OK, maybe it wasn't really "Spork", maybe it was "Spunk"... but still, I got to write "GRIT" in my crossword puzzle. A great start to the week, indeed.

I got an e-mail read on Jim Rome's show
but since the Royals are off, there’s no indication that doing that will lead to a Royals victory

Vegetarian grit = oxymoron
Like “military intelligence” or “Royals offense.”

I believe that "grit" might be a derivative...
of “gristle.” Which, of course, doesn’t exist on your average vegetable.

I Awoke One
Morning in the hazy past to find the bus I was on was broken down just outside Harrison, AR. They had a coke can brigade going from the restroom to the radiator, which apparently had sprung a leak. When we rolled into Harrison, we parked at a restaurant, and the driver took all of us in for breakfast. That was the first time I ever ate grits.
I used to be an A's fan until they left town and got good.
