Wilmington Blue Rocks Have Thrown 38 Consecutive Scoreless Innings
No, that isn't a typo. Basically, the Blue Rocks' collective staff has been as dominant as Zack Greinke was during his ridiculous scoreless innings streak. Oh, and get this: the last run scored was a solo homerun off of the bat of Jordy Mercer. If that ball wouldn't have left the park, it would be at 52 innings, now. 52 innings. That has to be some sort of record, or something. So, yeah. 1 run in 52 innings. Zero in 38. Four conescutive shutouts (it would be 6 if the Homerun didn't occur, with the 7th game being a 0-1 loss).
And yes, the Blue Rocks' hitting is about as talented as ours, so the pitchers are pretty much forced to put up such performances to win.

But aren’t a lot of those guys repeating high A ball?

Some but not all
Rotation:
Dan Duffy – first-timer at Wilmington, probably one of the Royals top 5 prospects at the moment
Everett Teaford – repeat at Wilmington even though his ‘08 numbers probably warranted a promotion to AA (3.80 ERA, 146 IP, 116 K’s, 46 BB, .246 avg against, 1.25 WHIP). He’s been even more dominant repeating the level in ‘09 – (7-1 record, 2.39 ERA, 4.08 K:BB, 0.98 WHIP). It’s time to promote him to NW Arkansas.
Mario Santiago – Repeat at Wilmington, doing ok so far but nothing special.
Alex Caldera – Staff ace for Low-A Burlington’s championship team in 2008, ugly ERA at Wilmington in 2009. His ERA is an ugly 5.50 and he’s walking too many people (4.2 per 9 compared to 2.7 per 9 for his career), but his other peripherals remain strong (10 K:9, averaging less than a hit allowed per inning, surrendering only a .256 overall BA against and holding RH to .183 against, 1.29 GO:AO). He’s much better than this if he brings his walk level down to normal levels.
Ray Liotta – Reclamation project. Was once a top pitching prospect in the White Sox organization until he missed all of 2007 with shoulder surgery. He’s old for the level (26) and has not pitched well
Waiting for April.
Greg Schaum was saying
That the Royals kept Teaford at Wilmington because he was a good presence on the younger guys.

who says this organization isn't deep?
the veteran leadership and grit goes all the way down to A-ball
I can’t wait for eric Hosmer to spend the next 4 seasons a low-A because of his “good presence”
I'm not a sabermetrician, but I do play one at Driveline Mechanics.

Teaford
Picollo on 610 this morning said that Teaford’s repeat had something to do with his second half last year not being as strong as his first half.
Yeah, it was a stupid screen name.
