Ryan honestly just said
“The key to the game, Upton, Drew and Reynolds. When they play poorly, the Royals usually beat the Diamondbacks.”
Yeah, like that ONE TIME IT HAPPENED.

"We"
The two teams are different this year. Going back to last year’s stats is foolish and I’m pretty sure that isn’t what he meant.
- W. Bloomquist homered to deep center
- P. Earth explodes
how do you know what he meant?
those guys were on their team last year
by Fernando Vina School of Linguistics on Jun 18, 2009 8:13 PM EDT up reply actions
exactly............4 for 44
he was talking about last year.
by Fernando Vina School of Linguistics on Jun 18, 2009 8:14 PM EDT up reply actions
To say "usually win" against an NL team in interleague play is foolish.
We don’t “usually” play the Diamondbacks. We have had like three series against them this decade. He said it so matter-of-factly like they were division rivals.
It was stupid too. Of course, IF WE NEUTRALIZE THEIR THREE BEST HITTERS, WE’LL BE SUCCESSFUL~!
- W. Bloomquist homered to deep center
- P. Earth explodes
i agree with your point.....it's a dumb comment.
but i was just saying he was probably referring to this year and last year—which he was.

yeah it should make sense
Ponson getting rocked = 12 runs
Greinke getting rocked = 4 runs
and when did Guillen’s one error cause us to give up 2 earned runs and lose by 7?

We'd never make any errors
If we were constantly under “pressure” to throw out runners like Guillen.
- W. Bloomquist homered to deep center
- P. Earth explodes
Somehow the diamondbacks turn a double play?
Jacobs and Guillen are the guys running.
If you were thinking, you wouldn't have thought that.
In all honesty, I hope to God Guillen catches fire,
we can trade him for bullpen help to an anemic offense somehow contending (Cards?), and we can put someone with legs in the OF.
- W. Bloomquist homered to deep center
- P. Earth explodes
Sadly,
if Guillen doesn’t help us, I’m not sure who he does help.
If you were thinking, you wouldn't have thought that.
you dont really realize how bad that deal is
until you realize meche is only making 11
realistically speaking
we'd have to eat a large portion of his contract
and i’m not saying that this would be a good deal for the Royals or that he would help another team, just that he actually could provide some value as a DH
Fair enough.
Just knowing that we would have to eat a large part of it bothers me. He isn’t blocking anyone right now.
A lot of players can provide value when another team is paying their salary, you know?
If you were thinking, you wouldn't have thought that.
to me, the question is just how much of the contract the Royals would have to eat
if they can save a few million dollars this season and next, then it seems like a decent move. bring up Costa or move Teahen out there and use someone else to fill in a third until Gordon gets back
perhaps for Nunez, or Ram Ram?

Think Posnanski
has changed his mind about watching Jacobs bat yet?
If you were thinking, you wouldn't have thought that.
To be fair to Poz
I don’t he think he was saying Jacobs is good. Just that when he connects, it is a thing of beauty. Which it is.
He just doesn’t do it very much. Which is bad, because that is the only thing he is somewhat useful for.
Yeah, he didn't stick up for him at all.
It’s just that at the time, Jacobs was a lot more exciting. He had hit some bombs when that piece was written, now it’s almost hopeless.
If you were thinking, you wouldn't have thought that.
it was the game where Greinke got hit hard in Toronto, giving up his first HR of the season....
it was 7-0 in the 7th when Guillen hit a 2 run HR off of Ricky Romero, then Jacobs followed that up with a HR.

Pena can’t call a game. IF Olivo was catching, it would be 2-2.

Kit Pellow
former Royal and Olathe North graduate. I stole it from this site when he was named Mexican League MVP or something like that last year.

Hmmm, cuz I work a guy that looks EXACTLY like him!
His name is Dave, though. It’s so weird cuz I just started Monday and when I walked in he was standing there and I freaked a little bit. I wanted to go up to him and go, “Is that you, Warden?”

new candidate for ugliest game of the year. incredibe amount of defensive ineptitude, we could have 5 errors without the hometown scoring
realistically speaking
this Cards series is going to suck
they’re going to outnumber us in the K and screw these guys up more
hm, carpenter and wainright
yeah………not going to be pretty. we could reel off 5 in a row here pretty fast

3 errors, 2 other misplays, 2 wildpitches

Question....
Have the Royals ever had an offer to move to the Arizona Fall League?
So, WTF did they do at that
“infield defensive training camp” thing at Hillman’s house?

team-building
Paintball, tug of war, and obstacle courses. It was a lot like Real World/ Road Rules: The Duel
If you were thinking, you wouldn't have thought that.
It just seems even stupidER now that the defense is THIS terrible.
Had it not been like this, and actually decent, then it’s forgivable to do such a dumb thing. But, to suck this bad – what was the point?

Olivo is a fucking headcase
Fuck.
Ok, maybe the comeback isn’t happening tonight.

I think it's time to go grab a shower
That way you can all thank me when I miss the Royals dramatic 10 run 6th to take the lead
Cruz in the 6th?
I’m guessing we use a new reliever in the 7th, 8th, and 9th. That’s at least 5 bullpen guys used in a game when were down very early.
If you were thinking, you wouldn't have thought that.

Where we should be throwing Wright or Colon to the wolves for 3 or so innings to save the pen as it’s mostly a lost cause?
