Catcher's ERA: As Stupid as Ever
R. J. Anderson at BtBS obviously hasn't talked to Zack Greinke about this.
Includes an appearance by an old frenemy.

Soren Petro is usually smarter than the average sports talk host
But he was going on about Catcher’s ERA the other day.

And some people on this blog whom I consider smart fans
Still think that game-calling has a significant effect on pitchers. Argh.
"Do they have people that tall in Mexico?"
I heard that, too
And was immediately disappointed in him.

I enjoy when local reporters begin with:
“I know <insert insignificant statistic: cERA, Clutch, Day-game ERA, etc> is a poor statistic, and doesn’t matter, but look at how good player X is at it. There’s probably something there – player X should get additional opportunities based on it”.
Luckily, the Star doesn't employ anyone like that

Ok, so I'm not buying Catcher ERA either
But I’d kindof like a better article than this to disprove it as it has a whopping sample size of 2 but a snark rating of 8.5. I assume such articles exist, correct?
