Sad news

Ed Thomas was killed tonight. The name probably doesn’t sound familiar, but he was the coach of the Aplington-Parkersburgh (Iowa) HS football team. Former NFL High School Football Coach of the Year. Shot multiple times in the school’s weight room by a former player.

This has got to be devastating for the community, especially after a tornado ripped through there just over a year ago.

I am Billy Butler's Gold Glove.

The hill is the worst. Sure, old fields had things like that. That’s because they had to fit them in wherever they had land, and they didn’t have enough money to level an entire city block.

Agreed

I’m not saying a field has to be perfectly symmetric, but there shouldn’t be random juts into the field unless there’s a good reason for it.

(Fenway Park had a good reason for their weird outfield. I’m willing to bet that even the Red Sox aren’t big enough tools to make something like Houston’s field if they were building a new park.)

That's why I said earlier I wouldn't trade Butler or Gordon for Pence.

A good fielder would’ve caught that.

I am Billy Butler's Gold Glove.

I used to be an A's fan until they left town and got good.

only reason that happened

was because he was so rested

I wonder what the ods are he gets pulled for Olivo for the last 3 outs

just by looking at the catcher

Brayan did more to prepare for a pitch than Olivo ever has

by BHWick on Jun 24, 2009 11:03 PM EDT reply actions

not to mention the insane patience

he waited until the THRID pitch

It is painful to watch him pitch

I feel bad for him. He’s like TPJ except with no confidence.

No passed balls by BP.

That’s not Trey’s kind of catching.

by hunter s. royal on Jun 24, 2009 11:10 PM EDT up reply actions

he's lazy

he’s knows he’s not athetic enough to run all the way to the backstop, so he just blocks the ball right when it hits the ground

LAZY

Defensive replacement

Trey doesn’t want Pena to call for a pitch off of Pudge’s helmet

by BHWick on Jun 24, 2009 11:08 PM EDT reply actions

and it turns out we shoulda put one in Pudges ear hole...

same result, with lower pitch count

chalk one up to another move that makes very, very little sense.

Probably doesn’t matter in the end, however, what is his reasoning for pulling Pena?

If you were thinking, you wouldn't have thought that.

So he took a nap and is ready to go now at 10:00!

Pretty sure we don't have anyone left on the bench.

It was definitely worth it. Not just because Olivo ended up hitting a HR, but because even Olivo is a better bet than a pitcher hitting.
