This game is bazerk-a-zerk.
Like, it practically makes no sense.
At all.
And now freakin’ Miguel Olivo hits a homer.
Wow.
ABC
Always be closing dammit!!!

all night long,
in a bag of shit and come out smelling like roses.
If you were thinking, you wouldn't have thought that.
I take back what I said about Olivo
…for the next five minutes
+100
DH: Where's the party!
Danny: David Howard and Mike Sweeney! Go away! Guys, you're gonna wake up my Mom!

i assume that's why Trey did the double switch
………but knowing Trey, prob not.
by Fernando Vina School of Linguistics on Jun 24, 2009 11:25 PM EDT up reply actions
There's nobody left on the bench
The double switch made sense whether or not Soria’s coming out for a second inning.
Just said Bale was warming, but only sorta.
I am Billy Butler's Gold Glove.
how does it make sense no matter what?
option 1: leave in BPJ……..pinch hit Miggy in the 9th spot…….Soria automatically out of game after 10th
option 2: double switch……Miggy hits in the 9 spot anyway…….Soria might pitch the 10th and 11th
by Fernando Vina School of Linguistics on Jun 24, 2009 11:31 PM EDT up reply actions
Olivo would've been left on the bench if you don't take out BPJ
by Fernando Vina School of Linguistics on Jun 24, 2009 11:31 PM EDT up reply actions
Well, yeah. But I'm assuming, being Trey, that Olivo was coming in no matter what.
I am Billy Butler's Gold Glove.
true.
that was puzzling………but definitely Trey-ish

I hope not...
or do I? I really have no clue at all

That just added 2 player options to his next contract
Brayan Pena would never be able to hit a game winning homer, that’s for sure
I'm not a sabermetrician, but I do play one at Driveline Mechanics.

yes, he has really killed the Royals tonight
Miguel Olivo shows that taking pitches is for suckers
the Dayton Moore philosophy is taking hold

Now we know why Olivo let soria give up a run...
He wasn’t going to let BPJ steal his thunder

Jesus..
DDJ started walking back to the dugout before the ball even hit the glove

Holy cow
The Royals box score on Gameday looks like a humongous cluster****
Yay National League
Actually
TPJ is still avaliable I think. So no
by kcbottom9th on Jun 24, 2009 11:30 PM EDT up reply actions 1 recs
Not disagreeing with the sentament, but he was a defensive replacement for about 1/2 an inning
I guess kansasjhawk just said that.
I am Billy Butler's Gold Glove.
Either way,
I wouldn’t feel any better IF TPJ was still available.
If you were thinking, you wouldn't have thought that.
I actually feel better with him out of the game
If Trey really needs a pinch hitter, he might turn to Greinke or Bannister, and either one’s probably more likely to get a hit.
I am Billy Butler's Gold Glove.

Shouldn’t be a catcher.

Wooooooooah I gotta plan!
There’s no rule against looking back according to Frank White. So we make all of our players look back over and over and continuously let them be hit by the pitch up and in. We’ll win games with no hits! Even with injuries we can just play minor leaguers without losing anything!
by kansasjhawk044 on Jun 24, 2009 11:29 PM EDT reply actions
No way Billy goes 0-fer in 6 PAs tonight
Let’s go!
what, he's going to go 0-2 in one PA?

Fun and stressful game nonetheless right?
I kinda like this interleague play, I say drop the DH in the AL
by kansasjhawk044 on Jun 24, 2009 11:33 PM EDT reply actions
I like it because it gives a chance to win!
(except for the Cardinals)
If you were thinking, you wouldn't have thought that.
And the Diamonbacks, apparently.
I am Billy Butler's Gold Glove.
We didn't really have a chance to win against them, that was just a fluke.
Sorta like how the Nationals took 2 of 3 from the Yankees.
Gotta love baseball. It’s a beautiful, confusing game.
I am Billy Butler's Gold Glove.
I think he actually got two saves.
Which is worse: having MacDougal as your closer in 2009, or having MacDougal close out two games against you in 2009?
I am Billy Butler's Gold Glove.
RoyalsReview might explode if this game gets blown again.
If you were thinking, you wouldn't have thought that.
it'd put this game in the running for most bizarre game of the year
behind that game in Minnesota when TPJ hit one-handed and all that other stuff went down

slowly becoming more respectable
the rankings that is.

I just wonder
How far BEYOND the box score must you go to determine the Royals are an above-average team?
I am Billy Butler's Gold Glove.
er, sorry
9 to 14
yeah… it’s a pretty whacky formula
keep in mind that only THREE (holdsup three fingers) NL teams are ahead of the Royals, and it all makes sense

Oh, great
Now Trey is going to start going to make Bale the closer…
(actually, if he replaces Wright with Soria, that might be an improvement)
How far down on the bullpen pecking order is Cruz at this point?
Bale, Farnsy, and Wright all pitched in a close game.
I am Billy Butler's Gold Glove.
The list ends with Colon, Wright, TPJ and, finally, Cruz.
by Black and Gold on Jun 24, 2009 11:46 PM EDT up reply actions
Oh yeah, I forgot, even Colon pitched in this game.
And everyone except Soria and Zack had at least two days of rest.
Only non-starters not used in the game were Cruz, Mahay, and Tejeda. I know Cruz has struggled lately, but hell, I’d probably have picked any one of these three over Farnsy or Colon in a close game.
I am Billy Butler's Gold Glove.
I love Inter-league!!
