You can already see it helping. He was able to foul off some pitches (Tuesday) that he would normally swing through.

I'm so glad we're counting foul balls as improvement.
Believe
If you were thinking, you wouldn't have thought that.
It is a sign that his contact rate could go up
Without looking, I would wager his swing and miss ratio was one of the worst in the majors.
Jacobs from opening day to May 13th: .262/.336/ .523, 7 HR, 21 RBI, 32 Ks in 119 PAs
Jacobs from May 14th to present: .193/.281/ .325, 3 HR, 5 RBI, 38 Ks in 128 PAs
What happened on May 14th?
Trey put Mike Jacobs in the middle of the order.
Going into May 14th, Jacobs was 1 for 29 batting in the middle of the order. Most of his PAs came in the 6 spot.
And despite the fact that Jacobs sucked in the middle of the order for the first month, Trey the blockhead PUT HIM IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ORDER. Then SURPRISE SURPRISE Jacobs goes into the crapper.
Trey couldn’t manage a 7/11, much less a baseball team.
Still suffering from the greatest robbery of all time: The stealing of the 1994 AL Central title from the Royals
Probably just a coincidence...
last year with the Marlins, Jacobs, after batting 3rd for the first 7 games, batted primarily in the 4th and occasionally the 5th spot in the order.
if Trey starts Jacobs against Maholm tonight, Trey is clueless.
But then again, Trey insists on keeping Jacobs in the 4/5 spots despite his slump. Which shows that Trey’s managerial style consists of shoving squares into round holes. (Oh yeah, Trey batting Jacobs cleanup against Danks shows that Trey shoves squares into round holes)
You have to make the best of the players you have and when they’re in a slump. Put them in a comfortable position. Instead of being right in the middle of the order or batting in the top of the 9th every time.

I think it has more to do
With pitchers just figuring out he can’t do anything with the outside corner except pop it up
