"Do they have people that tall in Mexico?"

Charlie Morton, the Pirates' starter

posted an ugly 6.15 ERA last season, with a FIP about a run lower. He walked over 4 per 9 and gave up more than 1 HR/9 in the National League as a member of the Atlanta Braves.

This is a pretty big pitching mismatch, not that that guarantees anything.

Avoiding a sweep against the Pirates

would be nice. Greinke’s pitching, so I think I’ll hold off on Half-Life 2 Episode One for now.

It really can't be any worse than last night's game.

Ahh Come on.....

Are you not excited to have yet another former brave on the team in Bruce Chen? What a joke!

Bruce Chen was the highlight of last night.

It's really not that Bruce Chen is a former Brave...

it’s that Kyle Davies was so bad that Bruce Chen is probably an improvement.

That makes sense

I was gonna say, Cleveland’s definitely history and they’re only 1.5 games worse than us. Wow, what a disappointing year for them, though – they had a chance (and I think, led in every game) to win every single game of that four gamer with the Cubs, and got swept.

Looking at last night's box score,

Royals pitchers actually threw 1 less pitch than the Pirates pitchers. That seems really odd considering the Royals lost 6-2.

Pirates 113
Royals 112 (that includes Bale’s 25 pitch 8th)

Ah, forgot about the Royals not throwing in the 9th. That explains it.

If you were thinking, you wouldn't have thought that.

what??? Are you being stupid on purpose?

Three straight Royal batters have a chance to get a hit between 25-40 times a game

First a Royal has to get a hit and our team has a batting average of 25%…then two Royals have to get a hit. So that’s 25% chance probability after a 25% probability. And so on.

How often does that happen 3 times in a row? It’s less than our probability. I think we have had 3 straight hits what, bout 25 times this season? We have had 2500 play appearances as a team

What’s the point of saying this? To make fun of me? Yeah because that’s really cool. I’m just wondering how many times the Royals have gotten 3 straight hits. I think its about 1 % of the time. I’m not defending Guillen’s base running, I’m just wondering what the hell he is thinking

by GobbleforCyoung on Jun 28, 2009 2:54 PM EDT up reply actions

the thing is there is a 2% chance he would have scored if he stayed at 2nd how many times have we had 3 hits in a row?

It is display my extreme skepticism that you have any proof at all of your claim, or that it would even be all that relevant if it were true.

what??? Are you being stupid on purpose?

This was your response to Warden’s post. Did you really expect not to be taken seriously once you called someone else stupid for not going along with an irrelevant stat that you’d estimated on the spot?

It’s just devils advocate. If someone wants to be rude about a comment, that’s fine. I do it too. But to act like I’m some kind of asshole for being rude in retaliation. Well I have a problem with that. I watch every Royals game. I’m glad you think my statistic is irrelevant and my estimation skills suck.

2009 Season

During this season Kevin Slowey has been dominant. He has posted a 10-1 record so far, which is currently tied for the league lead with Roy Halladay.

It was also found during the 2009 season that Kevin Slowey likes men…ALOT.
