I'm not a sabermetrician, but I do play one at Driveline Mechanics.
and that’s where my (maybe naive, maybe not) beef comes with using generalizations to predict specific events.
maybe it’s also in the interpretations of Zips’ projection; maybe more often than not players who look like they have slid into a black hole actually do regress out. but if that projection is a legitimate guess as to how TPJ was going to hit this season, it just doesn’t make sense to me.
