I'm still not a true believer in Banny
but I still think this team has good enough pitching if the team could simply hit a freaking ball. This team for 3/4 of its entire history can.not.hit.a.damn.ball and this current team consistently squanders the precious baserunners they rarely get by boneheaded baserunning – in addition to the horrible hitting. I simply don’t understand why we can’t find decent hitting – ever.

by GobbleforCyoung on Jun 30, 2009 9:16 PM EDT up reply actions
well he's at a crossroads right now
he’s not hitting as well as last year. But if he can pull his average up from .270 to close to .300, even .290 you have to pull him up. Him and Gordon could change our lineup completely (against RH pitchers atleast)
by GobbleforCyoung on Jun 30, 2009 9:19 PM EDT up reply actions

He is OBPing north of .400 and Slugging north of .500. Who gives a dam about his BA?
by kcbottom9th on Jun 30, 2009 9:23 PM EDT up reply actions 1 recs
I don't want to get into this again
Would you rather have Dunn (i’m not talking about power) and his .380 career OBP with a .250 BA or Ichiro and his .380 career OBP with a .333 BA? Base hits are more valuable than walks…that’s all I’m saying.
so it does matter…and it defintely matters when you are getting promoted a level and facing better pitchers. There are 100 minor league players with a .350 OBP in the minors.. If he can have a .350 OBP in the Majors then I’m all for it.
by GobbleforCyoung on Jun 30, 2009 9:33 PM EDT up reply actions
No they are not.
If you have an ISO like Kila’s, you don’t have to worry about your lack of jits. He is still getting plenty of bases.
okay that's fine
he has good isolated power numbers
But is it wrong to say I want to see him produce at the same level he did last year??? Or see if he can come close before pulling him up
by GobbleforCyoung on Jun 30, 2009 9:38 PM EDT up reply actions
For sure
But expecting to OPS above 1.000 is a tough ask. Mr Pujols never did it in the minors. He is is going at a .900 clip right now. That is excellent on its own, compared to Mike Jacobs it is positively Ruthian.
Kila isn’t a savior for this team. I don’t think anybody proclaims him to be. But at the very least he is an upgrade over Jacobs, and very likely a significant upgrade.

maybe that should be a sign to cut your swing down?
Especially at that point.
If you were thinking, you wouldn't have thought that.
You know everyone in the dugout is making fun of Baker for taking so long to get the out

Mendy Lopez sends his congrats to Tony Pena Jr
Mendy went 4 for 38 in 2004 before being deported sold to South Korea.
TPJ is now 4 for 40.
Every ML homer hit by Mendy Lopez came in Kauffman Stadium
And if we bought Mendy Lopez’s contract from Mexico, he would be better than TPJ
Still suffering from the greatest robbery of all time: The stealing of the 1994 AL Central title from the Royals
Well I'm sure we'll destroy Baker this inning.
After the absolute humiliation of TPJ taking him to 11 pitches, his soul must be crushed.

back when she was an obscure person on SNL I told my (now) wife I thought she was, why I did this, I don’t know…
she’s fallen off a little since then

YouTube is clogged full of videos of Mendy Lopez hitting home runs in Mexico.

Time for the weekly DDJ baserunning fuckup
Still suffering from the greatest robbery of all time: The stealing of the 1994 AL Central title from the Royals
Oh. My. God.
Seeing Slo-Mo DDJ sway back and forth as Baker made his move to first was pathetic.
Such a bad, bad baserunner.
- W. Bloomquist homered to deep center
- P. Earth explodes
just inexcusablel

I like DDJ
but that was fucking horrendous.

ridiculously long ab's against baker
some of the longest i can remember seeing in one game
realistically speaking
Baker kinda looks like white(r) Grady Sizemore.

20 pitches to less than 2 hitters..
meaning that our hitters are actually less than other teams hitters.

Man,
Ryan is REALLY running this “HIS ARM IS FALLING OFF” nonsense into the ground. He NEVER does that when Hillman leaves Meche/Greinke/Davies in for 110+ pitches.
- W. Bloomquist homered to deep center
- P. Earth explodes
thanks a lot david

I swear Billy Butler is a danger when throwing
his defense is better than expected, but man, I shake when there is a runner at first and the ball is hit to him.
