The newest Royal fan is born
On May 28, Katherine Olivia (aka "lil NYRoyal") was born. She was 8 lbs., 11 oz. and 19 7/8 inches long. She eats a lot, poops a lot, her favorite stat is tRA and her favorite player is Brian Bannister. She has good taste.
Baby, mother and father are all doing well, but tired and frazzled, as one would expect. For better or worse (undoubtedly both), my contributions on the site will continue to be infrequent for a while. Sometime this month I'll report May's RCI and post the questions for June's RCI.

Congrats
Whatever you do… make sure she becomes a fan of a winning team.. don’t put her through the pain and misery of a Rroyals fan

Congrats!
I was going to do a similar post when my son was born 5 weeks ago but just got overwhelmed with lack of sleep, et al and forgot to post it. Good luck and try to get sleep when possible. (My son’s favorite player is Greinke since he was on the cover of SI the week he was born.)

CONGRATS
Hey, if she likes Banny, that probably means she’s gonna become a doctor or lawer or something smart like that.
Here’s hoping that soon she’ll be sleeping through the night. I have heard that is the best time, once the little new one starts sleeping an entire night.

Granted, she wasn’t around just yet when Greinke was rolling…
Congrats, glad to hear everyone is happy and healthy.

Three babies born (or due soon) to RR readers recently in this thread, plus the latest Top Ramen baby, who was born in May.
Subtract 9 months from the late May, early June timeframe, and you’ve got conception times around August to September.
So the secret is: wait until the Royals season is pretty much over.

hearty congrats
i was wondering if you had “unofficially” resigned b/c of the team’s sucky play :-). anyway, if this is your first, you’ll quickly wonder what you ever did w/o kids. love the name by the way. take care…
I hereby resign from this post.

Congratulations!
I also have a daughter born on May 28, but sixteen years earlier. She has the math skills to be a sabermatrician but seems to favor the medical and political sciences so far. Perhaps in a few decades after she’s amassed her fortune she can hire Katherine Olivia to run the ballclub she’ll be able to buy as a tax writeoff. :) Best wishes. (Like the rally monkey blanket. The Royals definitely need it.)

Congratulations!
I hope you do better with yours than I did with mine. Out of 7 kids, I’ve got a Met fan, a Yankee (shudder) fan, and 5 that are so far indifferent to baseball. (though I suppose I can claim the babies as Royals fans in much the way you did)

Thanks for all of your congratulations
I’m going to try to make her a baseball fan, but we’ll see how that goes. She’ll probably end up being a girlie girl who rolls her eyes at my obsessive talk about baseball. Oh well, as long as she becomes rich and takes care of me in my old age, it’s all good.

Good job
I just wanted to be different. That’s my way of saying “congratulations.”
I know it’s obviously a small sample size, but what’s her PAR (Poop Above Replacement) so far?

You don't want to know
But I’ll tell you anyway. To put it in the most easily comprehensible numbers, her PAR+ is about 149 (49% above average).

Well then she is well worth the.....
time/effort/investment to keep then. I mean a PAR+ of 149!! That is an incredible number for a rookie.

She's in the running for Baby of the Year
And since she lives in NY, she’ll benefit from the voters’ east coast bias.

Daughters are fine. I have two college age daughters who both follow baseball. My older daughter was a math major and likes sabermath!
As a heads up, just wait until you start feeding the baby “solid” foods. You will see the kaleidoscope of poopy colors come out. No doubt what they are eating then!

that’s a very cute baby!
8 lbs 11 oz? You should prolly go apologize to NYRoyal wife, and very soon at that. That’s a pretty big baby.
Heh – probably good timing on your part, as the team has collapsed and the RR community has begun the annual chicken little impression (sadly, it may be with good cause), sparing you from having to argue at the overgeneralizations and overtly negative vibe…

Very big. Most of the other babies in the nursery were 5-6 pounds. She didn’t look like a newborn compared to them. As far as Mrs. NYRoyal goes, for better or worse, Katie was born via c-section, so her size didn’t end up being a problem.
Heh – probably good timing on your part
Indeed. This probably would have been a tough few weeks for me around here. Things will soften up when the next good stretch happens.
