OH GOD

The scroll on MLB just said the last Royals draft pick to become an All-Star was Ken Harvey (drafted 1999).

on a more serious note

i was hoping that he had gone back to his “pitch-to-contact” style that actually had a chance of being effective, though non-traditional. it seems he has to some extent, but with mixed results

you and me both

I actually really liked his confounding STAT lines, and his non-traditional approach. When it worked, it worked, and just made you sit and wonder. But sometimes it goes horrible wrong.

He's imitating Christy Mathewson.

He had a game where he got the first two, gave up two singles, then got the third out for 7 straight innings. Then apparently got bored and retired the last six. 14 hit complete game shutout. Dead ball era sorta helped that out.

When Guillen gets vilified for dropping a fly ball when we are already down 3-0 and he’s the reason we lose the game (according to the board), Butler is the reason we lose the game when the Indians clear the bases and lead 4-3 in about 7 minutes.
