Relive Halcyon Days of Royals' National Relevance: McSweeney's

Hello RR: First time, long time (been lurking since '05). As a reader of both McSweeney's, and of road-trip works of non-fiction covering 1st amendment key decisions (Seriously. Read it. It's good.), I highly recommend the following article:

THE CONFIRMATION
HEARING OF
SONIA SOTOMAYER,
IF THE HEARING
WERE HELD IN
FRONT OF THE 1977
KANSAS CITY
ROYALS INSTEAD OF
THE SENATE JUDICIARY COMMITTEE.

Among those lovingly lampooned: George Brett, Willie Wilson, Freddie Patek, Chris Chambliss, U.L. Washington, Hal McRae (some 90's Manager McRae gets fused with his general dour nature from the 70's), and many, many more!

The article is also a sad reminder of a time when the Royals were full of big personalities, wore powder blue unis, and won enough agains the Yankees et. al to warrant national attention.

Those days are gone.
