Moustakas finally turning things around
The page is ESPN "insider", but the Moustakas blurb is before the jump. At least someone besides us thinks he can still emerge as a top prospect.

I don't understand how bat speed is evaluated
therefore this report is worthless
I'm not a sabermetrician, but I do play one at Driveline Mechanics.

well, i've been watching him play every day (not really)
and i give him a 70. so then it’s settled.

but on a similar (and depressing note)
one team that i know of is developing a system to use high-speed film to evaluate hitters’ swings (kind of like they do on Driveline with pitchers). and who is that team? the Rays, of course (not that other teams aren’t, but i think we know one team that isn’t)

Really which team isn't?
Is it the same one that is sharing one computer for the entire office? You mean that same team wouldn’t be tech. forward in their business plan? These are strange days indeed.

good guess
who needs specialty cameras when you have hundreds of years of scouting experience in your FO?

JINX!
He went 0-5 with a K last night. Now 0 for his last 9 with 3 K’s and zero walks.
He hasn’t taken a walk in at least his last 28 PA’s (possibly up to 30).
Looks like he's adapting to the organizational philosophy quite well

i could see walk rate dropping when a guy's on a hitting streak
but is he good enough to buy into the philosophy to swing early and often,
come hell or high water?

Turning things around?
Hitting .254/.295/.413.
Failed out at shortstop and now plays a sub-par third base.
Strikes out three times as often as he walks.
He is 8 out of 14 on the basepads.
Why would anyone think he was “turning things around” this season?
