One more time,
does anyone have a guess as to why the infield was in on the first hit?
He can get 4, NOT 5.

why was the infield in?
Seriously! Middle IF <—— DP Depth. Corner IF <—— baselines.

i agree. figgins is quick
so i could see the middle infield playing halfway….but not all the way in.

I'm beginning to wonder if we should blame Hillman
There isn’t a single good option in the bullpen right now. If Soria is hurting, then there are zero good arms in the entire bullpen. I don’t think I’ve ever seen that in my life.
- W. Bloomquist homered to deep center
- P. Earth explodes
hillman is only a small part of the problem...
but he doesn’t get a free pass from me just for being generic anymore after his arrogant and inane comments
but when you pull your freaking infield in with one out and the bases loaded....
you deserve to get fired.

Yeah, his personality rubbed me the wrong way early.
He’s justifying that judgement lately.
He can get 4, NOT 5.
And Trey was quoted earlier in the week that they don't need to worry about changes
in the bullpen.
He can get 4, NOT 5.

you can blame him for throwing wright out there when he’s got nothing….you can blame him for having the IF in…etc

he’ll change his mind when new evidence is produced.
And well, from I’ve read, he has changed his mind.

I'm with Billy here, Hillman's awful.
Not just awful, but look at how he handles the media. Am I supposed to assume he magically handles the players any better?
He can get 4, NOT 5.
I think
NY might not be wrong. IMO, Trey makes things worse by his inability to explain his decisions in a rational fashion. If he kept his mouth shut or muttered cliches like Buddisimo you’d be confused but not nearly as mad because you’d be saying “eh, that’s what managers do.”

Yeah
Don’t get me wrong, I think the guy is a horrible manager, but he has been given a big steaming heap of shit in the bullpen.
- W. Bloomquist homered to deep center
- P. Earth explodes
I disagree
You have guys there who can and have got the job done. It’s just how he uses them. It’s ridiculous. He puts the wrong guy in. Takes a guy that should be in and uses someone else…
Coffee. The NEW Performance Enhancing drug for Sport's Writers. Just ask Ken Rosenthal.
I disagree
I think Wright, Bale and Colon are just plain horrible pitchers.
Cruz is serving up pitch after pitch right down the heart of the plate, Mahay has regressed more than anyone could have imagined (horrid control issues), Tejeda is the new crown prince of allowing inherited runners to score (from Gobble) and he might be our second best pitcher in the bullpen besides Soria.
And do we need to even bring up HoRam? I really, really think this bullpen is complete and utter trash and it isn’t a usage problem. Except not using Soria in the eighth.
- W. Bloomquist homered to deep center
- P. Earth explodes
I was thinking about this since I saw the Cruz pregame pen last Friday
With our pitching coach sitting there watching. Not saying a word. I think that Wright, Tejeda, Cruz, Mahay are all good pitchers. They have fallen into some mechanical flaws that our pitching coach isn’t correcting. That’s a problem there.
Bale is horrible. Still can’t figure out why he is on the team. Colon is MLB servicable. Not in a pressure situations though.
Coffee. The NEW Performance Enhancing drug for Sport's Writers. Just ask Ken Rosenthal.
and they were all doing good until Trey started trying to "mix and match"
That put everyone out of rhythm
Coffee. The NEW Performance Enhancing drug for Sport's Writers. Just ask Ken Rosenthal.
and
you can blame him for the bizarre post hoc justifications. This organization is stuck on stupid from top to bottom. Very little of the short term decision making at any level makes sense but when the meek KC press has the gall to question them on it, Trey-Trey and GMDM get defensive and start talking down to the press, any by extension, the fans.
This franchise disgusts me.

I would care if Tejeda goes, though I do think he still has a chance to be useful
If he’s your 6th guy, it’s not too bad. Mahay may have trade value…maybe. Cruz will get better because he’s badness is some kind of crazy fluke it seems.

I hate to be the happiest person on the blog
but since noon yesterday, I’ve been in a great mood. I haven’t had a beer all day (that’s the first time I can say that in a LOONNGG time), I haven’t gotten stoned (see beer comment), and I haven’t played any video games. Today, I actually enjoyed work. After work, I met up with a buddy I hadn’t seen for a long time, grabbed some dinner, had a great time. Shit I even went for an evening run, the first exercise I’ve had in at least a few weeks. It’s funny that this all coincides with my decision to boycot Royals baseball. I recommend it. Yes, I’ve still been checking the scores as the game goes by. But I really don’t care who wins. Not at all. The only thing I look for is whether Banny, Greinke, Soria, Alex Gordon, or Brayan Pena did good things. If they did, I’m happy. If they don’t, who gives a shit! I have packed it in this season. Pull out your red gear because it’s time to think about the CHiefs. Don’t worry about the Royals, and next year we start anew! BOYCOT 09!

and to think the Yankees were interested in Hillman...
imagine how he would have handled that media shit storm
Nothing from Nothing leads to... Your 2009 Kansas City Royals
he was a minor league guy for them for years...
I dont know how seriously he was considered, but I know his name was thrown around.
I think thats why Dayton was so secretive about him.

The KC media said his name was thrown around.
I’m pretty convinced that it was all BS.
He can get 4, NOT 5.
simple google search resulted in a bunch of blog hits...
but I dont know how official any of it is. And like i said who knows how much they considered the guy.

One guy
Ryan Riselo (no idea how to spell his last name) was commenting the other day about how the Pirates and Royals just do not have the same philosophy as the other teams in the league.

the Pirates are going to blow by the Royals very soon at this rate
their front office is making some off moves, but they are light years ahead of Dayton “Everyday” Moore and his asskissers (although I wouldn’t be surprised if Arbuckle hanging around to take over when Moore gets his ass handed to him)

I think the moves the Pirates have made for the last 2 years have been very solid.
and by trading their “good” players and replacing them with their AAA guys, they have had no fall off. I know that isn’t saying much, but still

maybe that means they realize that there shouldn't be a huge difference
between your MLB fill-ins and your guys on the AAA team.
That way, when your bullpen blows two straights series, you can actually change a few pieces.
He can get 4, NOT 5.
they know how to value players
they have to play on a budget, and are maximizing it. They hired one of the best saber guys out there to head up their research dept.

Schaum is
He rarely gets really angry but he really knows his stuff, especially about the minor leagues. Robert Ford is kind of an apologist.
610’s postgame has too many ads and plugs though.
