27 balls in play - no hits

If these guys are busts
Moore must be fired immediately. Obviously it’s too soon to tell, but 0-34 seems to have that “signature significance” that Rany talks about.
Also, they ruined Gordon IMO by leaving him in the majors for all of 2007. They should have sent him down.

Umm...
Teahen was the 3B coming off the career half-year in 2006. Had Gordon started the year in Omaha, Teahen could’ve come back from the shoulder surgery while playing the position he was most comfortable with instead of having to learn a new position which, while it should not affect how one hits, apparently does. Thus, we may have gotten closer to 2006 production out of Teahen and a more confident and equipped Gordon by midway through 2007.
(I know this is all speculative, but if the front office can acquire players based on wishful thinking, I can dream of what could have been).
Yeah, it was a stupid screen name.

yeah, they should have started Gordon in AAA (and he should have ended the 2006 season in Omaha, too)
if for no other reason than to game his arb clock

I was referring to the Chris Truby signing
Wasn’t that the year we signed him?

no
he was signed in 2005 to start at 3B since Teahen was supposed to at least start the year in the minors. Truby got hurt, and Teahen spent the whole year being horrible in the majors.

my bad. It was probably that bad year in the majors that cost him the 3B position.

wel...
Teahen was a prospect, but not the monster prospect taht Gordon was at the time. Teahen never destroyed the minors liek Gordon did in 2006. Teahen had a good defensive rep coming up, but botht he scouting reports and stats had him as terrible in 2005, and also 2006 (although he hit well in 2006). I think since then, Gordon has pretty clearly been the superior defensive 3B, even with his down year last season.
But, yeah, Teahen would have been a lot better off at least spending the first half of 2005 in the minors, but the Royals were in a bit of jam.

The Royals went through 2 stop-gaps that spring before finally handing the job to Teahen
it was supposed to be Truby, then he broke his hand (or something). Then the stop-gap job went to the immortal Chris Clapinski — who also went down for the year.
Unless I'm wrong...
