BrewCrew Mentioned As Potential Trade Destination For Brian Bannister
I had heard this via a FB post from a Milw area friend this morning. The BrewCrew have an abundance of position players, and Bannister certainly has value after recovering this season from his horrific 08 campaign. Of course Milw was a rumored trade partner last year and the year before (e.g. Greinke for P. Fielder---aren't we glad that blew over). - TL

Moore has dodged a few bullets:
He tried to trade Butler for Betancourt, Greinke for a first baseman, threw obscene money at Andruw Jones, who turned us down for a less lucrative offer… DM may actually be considerably worse at talent evaluation than his miserable record would indicate.
Baseball's that swingy stick game, right?

I am FIRMLY in the
DO NOT trade Brian Bannister camp.
If we were to make a trade with a team, we would be looking to RECEIVE a player like Bannister (young, upside, proven*, years of team control left, knows what Pitch FX means, etc)
- stretching the bounds of the term, I know
BOOM! ROASTED!
I really do love Bannister... Have ever since 07 when I road his hot end of the season to a fantasy championship

I've heard we're interested in
C Angel Salome and CF Lorenzo Cain. I would imagine we could only get one for Banny, and maybe a lesser minor leaguer.

Would have been interested
in getting their ace shortstop prospect (Escobar is his name, I believe); not sure if that trade would have matched up, or if one of the teams would have to throw in more. Might even have considered Banny for J J Hardy straight up, if Milwaukee was not inclined to move Escobar.
Anyway, that trade is now MOOT, as Moore screwed the pooch and acquired Betencourt instead. Sigh.
Mr Glass, this is a pro sports team, not a retail store - run it like one!
Mikwaukee would be nuts to do Banny-for-Escobar
and Banny-for-Hardy wouldn’t be too bright for them, either, although I guess I could see it.
In any case, obviously there’s no point in the Royals trading for either of those guys to sit on the bench.
I'm not a sabermetrician, but I do play one at Driveline Mechanics.
