Royals keep TPJ, DFA TPJ Jr.
No surprise here, although most of us were hoping for something else. DM loves TPJ.

Love the picture at the top of the poster
But I can’t figure out if TPJ is watching an infield pop-up, or if he was swinging so hard at a ball out of the strike zone that he lost control of his head.
I am Billy Butler's Gold Glove.
The TPJ super glue , can not be undone!!!
He must have some sort of black mail stuff against GMDM, or something. Man he can stick like a…..stick…….er….er….
DM s love for TPJ has just shut my brain down, however, if you really think about it. Do the Royals have many other options

is it possible for arbitration to
lower a player’s salary?
of course he can’t make less than the minimum, but you’d have a pretty good case
Mike Jacobs got paid like a 1.4 WAR player

Wow, what a let down
I was hoping some kind of bigger trade was being worked out behind that curtain over there. I guess it’s still good to dump a nearly worthless piece. Let’s finish the job by also dumping TPJ and recalling Tug.
Fuck This Team. Period.
The General Theory of Royaltivity
the KC bench has two players with 9 hits in 96 AB
WOW Dayton Moore-ron, you managed to make this team’s offense even worse
Enough is Enough - Fire Trey Hillman
you can't seriously be saying
that by acquiring freel and demoting tpj junior that he’s made the offense worse.

5 for 52
Hernandez is 10 for 49
Freel and Hernandez is a tolerable middle IF bench, but Freel and Pena is a god awful middle IF bench
9 fucking hits in 96 AB. Hernandez has 10 hits in 49 AB.
Let’s just say that 15 for 101 and 9 for 96 are slightly different.
Enough is Enough - Fire Trey Hillman
making any sort of distinction between TPJ and TPJJ is kinda nuts
neither one should be on an MLB roster; the Royals had both. The Royals had TPJs and a MITCH, now they have one TPJ and two MITCHes, except one of the MITCHes is 33 and without the upside of the younger one.

So that means we're pretty much stuck with TPJ for the rest of the year
Bloomquist is now the everyday SS to be spelled by TPJ when he needs to sub somewhere else.
Probably so, since Freel can "play" CF
and Teahen can backup LF/RF (and probably CF at least as well as Freel can)
TEFLON TONY LIVES!

can't begrudge him the work
“Teflon Dayton” seems like a good idea, though, given that blame for problems always defelcts off of him onto the Glasses, the manager, the fans, or (my favorite) the players (for whom he apparentlly bears little or no reponsibility. Except when they work out — especially when they work out, even when he didn’t acquire them.)

not that exact one, but
"Obviously, the responsibility lies with each individual player to be accountable for being successful."
—Royals GM Dayton Moore
“If we think a player is just going through a down period in their career, you stay with him if you feel that he’s going to be fine over the course of 162 games—and if he has a role on the club. But if you think a guy is done, he’s done.”
—Moore
“I’ve been a firm believer in this: I’m going to make a lot of mistakes. The difference is you can’t continue to make the same mistakes. You’ve got to recognize your mistakes and fix them.”

Still have to give Chen props
since he joined the Greinke/Meche “ORder of the screwed by the offense” last week, even if on a much smaller scale.
I predict a big Jacobs hot streak soon, perhaps it started last night. That’s just the way he is. By the end of the streak, his OPS will be up around .800 again… by the end of the season, who knows.

a big Jacobs hot streak right now would be incredibly good timing
would make it much easier to trade him…though that is probably just wishful thinking
by RoyalsFanInBillings on Jul 7, 2009 7:08 PM EDT up reply actions
yes
sadly, rather than seeing them as opportunities to trade players, Moore seems to see hot streaks as confirmation of their “accustomed level of performance.”

So, when MITCH gets optioned upon Gordon's return
we’re going to have a CF rotation of Ryan Freel and Willie Bloomquist.
Let that sink in for a minute.
Ryan Freel. Willie Bloomquist.
I still think we're trading for a shortstop...
and then TPJ may get released. Bloomy as a backup SS/CF along with Freel. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

how is that so horrible?
Freel is better than Mitch Maier, gets on base more as much as Maier and that’s while he’s batting .140
by GobbleforCyoung on Jul 7, 2009 5:46 PM EDT up reply actions
Ryan Freel 2009 OBP .275
Mitch Maier 2009 OBP .295
Both terrible, but if I had to choose, I’d take the guy who is an actual CF
are you serious?
learn some vocabulary first, and then reply to me.
And if you’ve seen Freel this year he’s sucked. But atleast he has a pretty good career OBP, unlike your boy Mitch.
Maybe you shouldn’t be such a wiseass all the time. When did I saw he is way better? Never, insert foot into mouth. I said he’s better and that’s with a .140 career average. Let him get close to his career batting average and HE WILL BE WAY BETTER

now I’m on edge for defending myself. This board cracks me up. Sarcasm constantly flows, but if you’re targeted you have to just take it like Moore takes TJP up the butt, but thanks for the compliment I guess.u
