Ryan Freel, meet Trey Hillman…

Trey saying they kept TPJ instead of TPJJ
because TPJ has “better lateral range” than TPJJ, and with our offensive shortcomings, they needed to keep BPJ on the roster as well.

of Hernandez and not TPJ? They’re both horrible. Neither one of them belongs on even a bad ML roster. We should be happy on of them’s gone at all.

Hes a top five MLB starter for sure..... Thats not too bad but
Any team trading for him is gonna get raped. Youre very right about that
I think he's goinig to peak for the next year or two and than take a precipitous fall
He’s had injury problems. He’s only struck out 150 + batters 3 times, 200 + only twice…thats not consistent for a 10 year vet.
I think trading Toronto a good young above average major league position player, a good young starting pitcher with + stuff and a former first round pick (2006-2008) still developing shoudl be adequate
but you’re right the team trading for him is going to get raped especially with his salary
by GobbleforCyoung on Jul 7, 2009 6:58 PM EDT up reply actions
Halladay's strengths go beyond just K-Rate
He has very good command and control, as he hardly walks anyone and gets a ton of groundballs. His K:BB ratio is rountinely of the best in the league.
Also, his injuries have been more fluky stuff – like getting his leg broken by a comebacker – than the type of arm injuries that would constitute a red flag.
If a contender gets him, that could seriously swing the balance of a division this year.

"I can resist everything but temptation." - oscar wylde
haha.....the pregame show is on fire today!!!!
They’re having a “Coaches Challenge”……..a six part competition among the KC coaches. Today’s event was taking a fungo and trying to hit a ball that bounced off the warning track. Each got five cuts.
Seitzer and Kuntz got 1 out of 5…….Treydaddy, Eddie Rodriguez, Gibbons all got 0 for 5.
What was timelessly classic was some guy starts walking down through the RF corner where they’re hitting all these balls……want to guess which player it was walking through the middle of the game in street clothes?

god fucking dammit
I’m sorry to get pissed, but seriously, we don’t need to bitch about EVERYTHING. There is only 1 person to blame for that double play, and it is willie ballgame, and he’s not completely to blame. Full count, already fouled off 2 pitches with that count. If JV throws a fastball, it will be the third straight willie sees, so he probably will at least put it in play. If he throws offspeed, DJ walks into second base. And DJ was still almost safe if not for a perfect, and I mean perfect, throw from laird. JV throws a 97 mph fastball in a great spot. Sometimes shit just doesn’t work. But I’m convinced that far too much bitching goes on.

Note to Trey:
I’m a big DDJ fan. I defend him when no one else does.
I assume, though, that we both know he sucks at stealing bases. I’m sure he knows it. That doesn’t mean he shouldn’t lead off. Against RHP, especially, he still has good OBP skills.
I also realize that sometimes you have to send a guy just to “keep the other team honest.” It’s game theory, which I’m sure you are familiar with.
Still… when he’s on first with no outs in the first inning against one of the best pitchers in the AL, with a recognized good defender behind the plate in Gerald Laird… even with Willie B. hitting second for some unfathomable reason… yeah… that’s not a good time to send him to “game” the other team, or to even give him the green light.
Sincerely,

JoPo on the Freel acquisition
I should say here that for a few years there, I was a Ryan Freel fan. I think of the Ryan Freel of 2004/2005 — sure, he had his flaws (no power, didn’t seem to have a true position, wore down and got hurt) but, hey, a guy with a .370 to .375 on base percentage and big-time speed, you know, it seemed to me that guy could really help you in the leadoff spot. I thought the Royals should have gone after him then … instead they got him four years later, at 33, when he can’t run as well, can’t get on base and can’t stay healthy. Oh well. As one smart-alecky baseball person wrote to me: "Ryan Freel AND Willie Bloomquist on the same team? Is that even legal?"
It’s mostly about TPJ and TPJJ

No
Freel said Farney lives “inside” his head. So it’d have to be inside.

50 pitches
i guess we can at least take something positive out of this
-
a DDJ out here...
and he shouldn’t even walk back to the dugout
just leave the stadium through the stands and await his fate on the streets of Detroit
we got bailed out on that........
looked like he was struck out on the pitch before.

something about what is more likely:
Bloomquist finishing with a >=.700 OPS, or Jacobs with >=.775 OPS?
