But the Royals, being the Royals, found they had a difficult choice. Sort of a cosmic choice, really.
Do you send down:
A) Luis Hernandez
or
B) Tony Pena Jr.Philosophers have pondered this question right there with the chicken and the egg one. The correct answer, Aristotle said, is "You send down both." But Aristotle had a very weak understanding of the Royals minor league system.

Update: The Royals apparently stuck with Tony Pena Jr. because of his "lateral movement." Well, that makes more sense. With better lateral movement, the Royals can play Pena in more bump-and-run coverages.
I heard that "lateral movement" crap
On Hillman’s show the other night. It was said again yesterday or today about Freel. Unfortunately, 1) lateral movement does not guarantee that you actually get the ball in the glove, and 2) the last time I checked, you cannot use lateral movement in any way to hit a baseball.
“Lateral movement” is not even a tool, it’s like a fifth of a tool. And apparently that’s all it takes to be a SS in the Royals organization. Yay, us!
Yeah, it was a stupid screen name.

It's sad TPJ
died before he could finish up his 80 year contract extension.

He'd still have more lateral movement than Mike Jacobs
and a corpse would have more ball in the dirt blocking power than Miguel Olivo.
