Official Ways to Improve RR Thread
How can I make Royals Review better?
I'm not fishing for compliments here either, just trying to get some feedback as to what types things you guys want more or, or less of, or whatever. Content, style, timing, whatever?
I'd like some feedback if you have any. Sometimes I feel like I'm too zoned into my own little world.
They can also be more SB Nation related, though obviously I'm not going to be able to help you as much there.

Why Does The
Action slow down so badly when the threads get long? It may be worse with different OS’s, but I’m not the only one to complain about this. I try to comment on something and by the time I can type the post and enter it 2 more plays have happened. This is a problem both at work and at home, where my connection is 3 times faster and my computer is much newer and faster.
I used to be an A's fan until they left town and got good.
Since I Don't
Know what that is, I doubt it.

you should try it next game thread
it’s all I use, and it’s insanely awesome
press z on your keyboard, and it moves the page automatically down to the nearest unread comment (so you don’t have to scroll)
i think this will help with the load times
I'd also like to add that pressing "c" does a similar action.
Sometimes, when a comment off screen is posted and you hit “z”, it will get marked read without you seeing the comment. “C” will take you to the newest comment, then once you are caught up, Z becomes your friend.
If you were thinking, you wouldn't have thought that.

The site is great....
and would be even greater if the team didnt blow ass once again….
love the recent addtions of the daily links….saves me lots of time surfing around the net
i agree with the site sometimes slowing down…seems like the easiest fix for that is to have OF threads after like 250 comments…dont know if thats possible to auto format…b/c i understand that you cant be here for all of them

Good stuff!! keep it up
I can agree with the lag time with open threads, but obviously this is not a problem that can be adressed easily.
Overal, enjoy the stat forward posts, the thought provoking posts(race to Ks, NLv AL), and the fun posts (Conspiracy Theory, Caption Contest, and though I did not start the most recent one, Heikus to battle Grass Creek)

Seems like either JoPo or at least Rany "owes" us an interview/ interactive chat session
that’s not really on you, but this is the best Royals Blog out there. Sure, it’s pretty much the only one I read (JoPo and Rany’s aren’t as interactive, they don’t really count as blogs), but still
1) Best writing byt he “main guy”
2) Best mixture of analysis, humor, fandom, history
3) Best balance of original RR content and fan contributions
4) Diversity of opinions and approaches
5) Funny as hell, even when it’s gallows humor (anyone who hasn’t should read this. Heck, read it again if you haven’t.)
6) usually, disagreements are handled in an adult manner (at least relative to the internet norm). I know that even when, for example, me and billybeingbilly (man, that’s hard to type) are arguing about DDJ, it’s nothing personal; or being and Fernando Vina School of LInguistics about Buck/Olivo, isame thing. Baseball is important to us, but it’s still just baseball. You bastards.
I was inspired to learn what little I know about baseball “analysis” here.
I guess you weren’t looking to have smoke blown up your rear… let’s see, other than that. Here are some suggetions of varyign seriousnes
- Jinn Wong Interview
- Tales of a Royals stalker With Minda Haas
- Are we ever going to get a Remembering Ramon Ramirez Post , since RR and I are the only guys that miss him?
- Ditto Grudz
- Ditto Gload (sans me missing him)
- Might as well start Remembering John Buck now
- Too much negativity. Sure, the season went into the tank, but it’s almost the All-Star break, and Willie B. still has a > .700 OPS
- Travel diary of RR going to the K, then walking around the Plaza with RoyalsRetro, NYRoyal, and Art Stewart
More when I think of it

Mean?
“Are we ever going to get a Remembering Ramon Ramirez Post , since RR and I are the only guys that miss him?”
Those 2 pitches he threw behind his former battery mate Yorvit Torrealba immortalized him to me. He turned out to be a very good relief pitcher, too.

One thing I will say about the "interactive chat" stuff,
Is a CoverItLive chat any better than SBNation’s threaded comments? I vote a huge no.
CiL requires at least one moderator and more than a few commenters. Then, the commenters have trouble replying to other comments because they don’t get approved until 3 minutes later. Although to get Rany/ Pos you may have to run a moderated session to cut out some of the bs. I just do not understand why people use CiL when they already have a better set up with SB Nation.
If you were thinking, you wouldn't have thought that.

I don't see that much content improvement is needed
This site has the nice, off-beat features such as the radio affiliate series, and you do that with reasonable regularity (but you need to get back to towns that more reliably have cheerleader squads!). Retro’s top 100 isn’t really within your power to move along. We have folks doing reviews of our minor league teams, you’ve recently added a daily links…
There’s one thing I can think of that might be a nice new feature. Maybe a “this day in Royals history” sort of thing? That could be cool, if done by someone knowledgeable enough.

she's often part of the links posts
she works for some TV station in CA. There is a website entirely devoted to her outfit of the day. Hilarious when included between two straight Royals links.

I was thinking we should do some kinda
“state o’ the royals” roundtable at the all-star break.
Oh, and that lazy SOB NHZ needs to party less and post more.
That is all.
"Do they have people that tall in Mexico?"
Agreed.
Hell, a lot of us can do what NHZ does.

For me, this website is the best source for Royals information
on the web. However, if we are really seeking for ways to make it better, can we just stop with the F word every other post? I read this thing at work and get nervous about what words are on my screen when someone enters my office. And I can’t have this site up when the wife and kids are around because I don’t feel the need to explain what F means to my kid.
I try to not to be too prudish when it comes to language but if you cannot even type a thought without cursing, maybe you ought to just put the keyboard away for a few minutes.
Everything else is great and is only getting better. I appreciate all the hard work that everyone puts in to make the site so knowledgeable and informative…thank you.

re: F word
Try following a game thread during the school day as a 5th grade teacher.
“If you have any questions, raise your hand. I don’t care how long your hand is up, DO NOT WALK UP TO MY DESK!”
Outside of game threads, the blog stays pretty clean. With the way the Royals play, not sure you can clean up game threads.
If you were thinking, you wouldn't have thought that.
http://sonsofsamhorn.net/index.php?showforum=129
I don't think it's a problem.
I drop a lot of bombs in game threads myself. Hell, I’m watching a Royals game.
If you were thinking, you wouldn't have thought that.

I understand the concern,
but to echo some of the others, I don’t think it’s plausible or worthwhile to censor (or cut back on usage in) game threads. I actually don’t think I’m particularly guilty of this in the first place, but when Olivo strikes out swinging on a slider low and away for the 100th time this season, claiming once and for all the title of “greatest hacker in baseball history,” I want to be able to drop an F bomb on that day.

As we can all imagine I am not in favor of stopping my f bombs......
At one point i was way overboard and have been much better as of late. However, one of the great things about RR (esp open game threads) is to live the ups and downs of royals baseball. I respect the fact that you dont want your wife and kid to see this stuff. Also, when I am watching royals games its a great way for me to have a BREAK from things of that nature. I agree with many others that say it is going to be hard to censor the site. I also agree it would a terrible idea. Ha ha JK around everyone!
How about Game Threads uncensored, everywhere else, let's keep it civil?
I mean we do a pretty good job of that already, and I’m not in favor of censorship, but if this place is to grow even more with new members and outside media attention, the swearing has got to go. To me, it’s like smokers and nonsmokers. Being a nonsmoker, I tend to frequent places that don’t put me in the company of smokers doing their thing, if it can be helped. On the other hand, smokers are forced to go outside at certain places to smoke. So the Game Threads are “outside”, and everywhere else is swear-free. It will bring this site more credibility in the long run. Though I hardly think that it is currently a pressing issue.
And unfortunately, that means a name change for 2Legit.

Though i can also apprieciate your situation
It will be very hard pressed to get this done. However, IMO, the only real problem would be the Live Threads. However with your post perhaps just by asking for higher levels of type, we might just get it, and perhaps more intellectual jokes as well

Seeking inspiration to fill this space...
I would like to see a discussion about the farm system
during the All Star fiasco. What is going on down there and do we have any hope of some sort of talent coming up to the K. I promise that I will make more gamethreads the second half of the season. Go Blue…
improvements: ban me from game threads
also, some interviews would be neat. of who, i’m not sure

I kind of like the fact that something stupid can't be edited away.
But I do find errors to be annoying, especially when I can’t fix them.
Maybe put a timer on the edit function
so you have a minute or two to fix typos etc., but not enough time to make substantive changes once others start pointing out your idiocy.
