I think at this point

at least half of us probably agree that finishing dead last would be a positive. If we’re not in the playoffs or at least .500, the #1 pick in the draft is the best consolation prize.

Even if they get the pick, they’ll use it to draft someone other than Harper or Strasburg citing money.

With the way this season has gone

if they get a shot at Harper or Strasburg I think they’ll have to take one of them. David Glass wants seats filled. Plus, either one is a low risk pick. They might not work out long term, but the Royals wouldn’t be blamed for that.
