MLB statistics service announced today that it will terminate the Triples counting stat beginning in the 2010 season. An unnamed source gave this rationale: "If the Royals lead the league in any offensive category, it is (by definition) an insignificant statistic."

I guess triples don't equate with winning. Clogging up the damn bases or something.
