Saturday Royals Links- Royals Sign Wil Myers

Seriously, why is Wil Myers "Wil" and not "Will"? Unless his full name is Wilfredo, I'm going to officially demand that we do something about this.

Here are your Saturday morning links:

Buster Olney pretty much said that it is a lock that Strasburg will get signed...

It was on ESPNradio this morning at about 8 so I didn’t hear all of it, but pretty much said something along the lines, that the Natinals know they can’t afford going two years without signing their top pick and that Strasburg (regardless of what his agent says) knows that it would be completely insane to turn down a $20 million dollar contract, which I guess would imply that that contract is on the table.

    too bad

hopefully we’ll keep losing so we can ensure we get Harper. you hate to root against your team, but I think its safe to say we have nothing else to play for this year

    Yep, He's William
    William (Wil) Myers 2009
    3B C/1B/P/SS/OF R/R 6-3 190
    HS: Wesleyan Christian
    Hometown: Thomasville, NC
    Summer Team: Dirt Bags
    Fall Team: Dirt Bags
    College: South

Gotta love that summer team. A lot of people put 2 l’s in Phil, and I let that bug me since there is only one in Philip. Phillip is now the more popular spelling for the name, and that is just wrong. Philip is a greek name meaning lover of horses; yes, I know, but at least it’s a real name. The last name Phillips is the only place the 2 l’s belong. At least Wil didn’t add anything that wasn’t there already or call himself Iam like people named Christopher who go by Topher.

I used to be an A's fan until they left town and got good.

    Why all the Wil hatred?

Aren’t sabermetrics people or Baseball Prospectus people or some such intensely rabid Wil Wheaton fans? I don’t know why I think that… but if they are, then you can’t knock one Wil in favor of another Wil.

I’m not sayin’, I’m just sayin’.

    ...

William is the most common and likely the oldest variation of this name, and it was shortened to Will

I just don’t get the Wil

    Today's Lineups Already

A solid platoon of Bloomers and Mitch in the 2 hole; Mitch takes his turn today. BPJ batting LH catching today, A-Gor comfortable in the 8th spot ahead of Yu-Betcha, and Jakers cleaning up. What could go wrong?
