    Fuck Strasburgh is gone

Still hoping we lose out to get Harper

I wonder if the Nationals could afford to sign him anyways

I wonder if the Royals can afford it too. He’ll want a record. So $15-$20M for the franchise savior over 4-5 years.

Of course the Nats could afford to

Their owner is rich, they don’t have a terribly high payroll, and they have a brand new stadium. Harper will get what, about the same amount they gave to Austin Kearns?

Then why did they screw with Aaron Crow so badly?

Did they just completely botch the negotiations with hardball tactics for no reason?

I will say Crow signs by Sept 15

I forget who (Keith Law perhaps?) but they reported that talks are not going nearly as bad as earlier reports had indicated and that the two sides are not all that far apart.

    How Did GMDM

Let Huff slip through his fingers?

I used to be an A's fan until they left town and got good.

I don't know if this was commented on during yesterday's game but,

do you think Trey was regretting this quote:

That prompts the question: Why not play Peña at least four or five times a week over the final seven weeks to provide an answer?
"The argument against that," Hillman said, "is (the desire) to continue utilizing a guy who has a lot of power production and helps generate runs and throws out base stealers better when you’re playing teams that do run in a Miguel Olivo.
"That’s the argument. And trying to go with the difficult balance of, yeah, you’d like to find that out (about Peña) but, at the same time, you’d like to win ballgames."

    after Miggy’s 2 clutch GIDP’s?

    Fight for the pennant.
    you’d like to win ballgames.

He can get 4, NOT 5.

is that what we are trying to do?

Keith Law thinks the Royals shouldn't offer Crow any more than 2 million
If I’m Kansas City there is no way on God’s green earth I offer him more than $2 million. Anything over that is money down a toilet. I had Crow ranked a little ahead of those guys because he was closer to the majors, but given his layoff this year, I’m not sure he’s closer than Leake is, and Crow’s leverage keeps diminishing. Those negotiations have been very poorly handled. Heck, Jim Bowden’s reputation is actually getting a boost!
